BDS Tactical Rifleman’s Chest Rig

BDS Tactical is a Marine owned and operated manufacturer and designer of high quality tactical nylon that is 100% made in the USA. All of their gear comes with a satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime warranty.

I’ve heard good things about BDS Tactical for several years now, but until recently I haven’t had the chance to run any of their chest rigs. Several weeks ago I picked up a Rifleman’s Chest Rig in MultiCam to test it out and so far, I absolutely love it.

Features

The BDS Tactical Rifleman’s Chest Rig is made of 1,000 Denier Cordura, and holds up to 12 standard magazines, 3 in each of its 4 magazine pouches. If you are using the standard M16 magazines, 3 will fit into each pouch easily. However if you’re running something different, like Magpul PMAGs or Troy BattleMags, 3 is a little snug.

The magazines are held in place with heavy duty hook and loop closures with a snap, that has a reversed pull tab that I really like. The lids on the magazine pouches are removable and adjustable, which allows you to have the right amount of retention, or if you prefer, completely remove the retention.

The entire rig is covered in PALS webbing for attaching additional modular pouches.

Options

One of the cool things about BDS Tactical is that when you order from their website, you can customize your rig exactly how you want it. Here are a few of the options available with the Rifleman’s Chest Rig.

Bib

The bib opens across the top of the front panel and covers the chest area of the rig for additional storage needs. If you need it, great, if not, this will save you weight and money.

Internal Admin Pouch

The top of the front panel is just one long zipper opening pouch. You can add an internal pouch for administrative items, or again save the weight and money and leave it empty.

Hydration

For hydration capabilities you have several options.

First is the HydroBack Integrated Hydration Carrier, a hydration system from the HydroBull line of hydration systems by BDS Tactical. The HydroBack back panel is padded against the body for comfort and has a zippered opening. The hydration pouch fits up to a 100oz bladder and has PALS webbing on the front with a strip of 2″ loop fastener. Shoulder pads on the HydroBack Integrated Hydration Carrier have 1/2″ closed cell foam and PALS webbing.

Another option is the HydroBull Pak Bak.The HydroBull Pak Bak is a hybrid back panel hydration day pack. The exterior is covered in PALS webbing for attaching modular pouches, and integrates with all BDS tactical chest rigs. A cool feature of the Pak Bak is that when your chest rig is not needed you can detach the Pak Bak from the rig and quickly convert it to a small hydration day pack using the included shoulder straps.

Quality

I am very happy with the quality level of BDS Tactical gear, and the Rifleman’s Chest Rig is no exception. Fit and finish, the PALS webbing, stitching, Cordura, buckles and zippers are all excellent.

You would expect this level of quality from a company offering a 100% satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime warranty. This is easily one of the nicest rigs I own.

Value

Value is outstanding. BDS Tactical gear is not the cheapest on the market, nor is it the most expensive, but it is in my opinion some of the best. It’s also made in the USA, has a satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime warranty. That means you can buy once with confidence.

Wrapping Up

The BDS Tactical Rifleman’s Chest Rig is a very well made and can be customized to your specifications and needs when you order. If you’re looking for a top quality chest rig that is made in the USA, take a look at BDS Tactical.
