PHLster MOLLE Adapter G Loops

PHLster is no stranger to Monderno. They make some of the best Kydex holsters out there, and I seem to continue to find reasons to send them my money. Recently, they came up with something new in the world of Kydex called G Loops.

What Are G Loops?

G Loops are pieces of .125″ Kydex molded like the letter G, that enable your outside the waistband (OWB) Kydex holster to be MOLLE compatible. The way it works is simple: weave the G Loops through the PALS webbing and attach the holster to the loops.

Installation

Installation is simple and only takes a couple minutes. Here’s Jon from PHLster with a quick demonstration.

The only thing I’ll add to the video above is that a screwdriver with a magnetic tip helps with the hardware installation, unless your fingers are skinny enough to properly align the female portion of the Chicago screw (mine aren’t).

G Loop Compatibility

I tested the G Loops with a PHLster OWB Kydex rig (pictured above), as well as others like the Bravo Concealment holster we reviewed, and so far all holsters have all fit the loop system. Even though there are small differences between the holsters like size, eyelet spacing, etc, they are similar enough, and there’s enough wiggle room in the PALS webbing, that in the end they all fit.

Versatility and Value

I think versatility is the biggest selling point of the G Loops. Not only can you use them to make your existing PHLster holster MOLLE compatible, but most likely any Kydex holster that you own, so long as it has a similar profile (most do).

While there are other excellent adaption systems out there like the G-CODE Rapid Transition Interface (RTI) system, G-CODE RTI holsters don’t lend themselves very well to OWB concealed carry. PHLster OWB Kydex holsters on the other hand hug much closer to the body and do conceal well OWB with the right cover garments, meaning the same holster you use for concealed carry can be quickly adapted to run, for example, on a chest rig.

At the time of writing, you can buy a set of G Loops for $25 shipped, which I think is pretty good value.

Wrapping Up

G Loops are pretty cool. They’re a simple and elegant way to make your existing Kydex holster MOLLE compatible. Though not as versatile as the G-CODE RTI system, they do exactly what PHLster says they will do, and they do it well.
