The Boker Hyper is a knife that isn’t on a lot of people’s radar. This is a real shame, because the Boker Hyper is simply fantastic. The Hyper is a framelock folder designed by Chad Los Banos and manufactured by Boker.
Details
The Boker Hyper has an overall length of 6.5″ and a blade length of 2.75″. The blade steel is 440C stainless, the handle material is G10, and the knife is a very manageable 3.6 ounces due to the skeletonized handle. The handle, clip and steel are all covered in a titanium coating for corrosion resistance.
The clip can be reversed to allow tip up or tip down carry, whichever you prefer. The knife comes in a satin or black finish, plain or combo edge. On the back of the knife is very functional gimping. This gimping, along with the finger cutout, provides a very secure and ergonomic feel to the knife.
Application
The Boker Hyper is a pocket carry folding knife for EDC, and in this it excels. One of the features that makes the Hyper such a great EDC knife is the deep pocket carry clip. The Hyper really buries deep in your pocket, which I always appreciate in an EDC knife.
This is especially important in an office setting, where perhaps you have to dress business casual. If having a huge blade that sticks out is frowned upon, look for a blade that buries deeply and discreetly like the Boker Hyper.
Final Thoughts
The Boker Hyper has been out for quite a while now, but doesn’t seem to be as popular as it should be. If you’re looking for an EDC folding knife under $50 that has decent steel and a reversible, deep clip, take a look at the Boker Hyper. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Just got my Boker. It’s fantastic for EDC. Very slim. Fits perfectly IWB of my suit pants. Belt covers the clip and you don’t feel that it even there.
