2 Vets Arms Launches AR-10 SPR

2 Vets Arms launched their version of the AR-10 yesterday, the 2VA 308 Special Purpose Rifle. I’m really excited about this one, and if you’re in the market for an AR-10, you should be too.

Description

With the many options in the 7.62/.308 market, the 2VA-10 line of rifles fills the void between affordability and quality without sacrificing the reliability or accuracy that is demanded with today’s hunters and shooters. With sub-MOA accuracy as a starting point, blending ergonomics, adaptability and value, we feel this rifle is a can’t miss.

Did you catch the weight? 7 lbs, 13 oz. So not only is the 2VA 308 SPR one of the lightest AR-10’s on the market at UNDER 8 lbs naked, it shoots sub-MOA AND has an MSRP of only $1,875. If you’re not familiar with the AR-10 market, check around. A quality AR-10 that runs and shoots MOA/sub-MOA will typically cost at least $1k more. This combination from 2 Vets Arms is impressive to say the least.

If you’re looking for an AR-10, I think you can stop looking. I will do a follow up post soon with accuracy results, but in the meantime, you can order a 2VA 308 SPR here.

VERY slick AR-10 pattern rifle. And the price point is fantastic especially for a shop their size.

No way would I spend that much, I don’t care how good it is.
My $600 DPMS Sportical and $200 Nikon P-223 scope at 12X can do sub-MOA at 100 yards with handload match ammo.
Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint .224″ 55gr. Polymer Tip 24.0gr. IMR4895 – 5 shots, bench rest with bipod in my backyard range.

That’s great Geoff, but you just compared a 5.56 AR-15 to a .308 AR-10. Not exactly apples to apples.

So what? Let me shoot that $1900 rifle I can’t afford and I can guarantee I will shoot just as good with it. I don’t NEED to have a rifle that costs that much. The caliber does not matter, it’s the shooter. I’m not saying it’s a bad rifle or knocking the caliber, the price is a put-off for some of us. I just shot my Mosin (It’s a .308, ya know) out back and got a 6MOA 3-shot group at 100 yards with iron sights at a B-27. Guarantee I could nail the X-ring with a scope. I’m retired on SS and don’t have that kind of money to spend on a rifle when what I have does the job. I am not trashing the rifle, I’m just saying a less expensive one can do just as good in the hands of a good shooter.

Geoff, perhaps I missed your original point. I’m glad to hear you’re proficient with your rifles. My apples to apples comment was in regards to what you said about the price – comparing the price of a low quality AR-15 to a mid to high quality AR-10 isn’t a fair comparison. Instead, you should be comparing the 2VA AR-10 with other AR-10’s on the market. If you do, I think you’ll see what I’m talking about.

If your point is that you can shoot X group at Y distance with a cheaper rifle, well yeah, of course you can. I have a $300 .308 bolt gun that will shoot MOA with cheap ammo all day long. But we’re not talking bolt guns, we’re talking AR-10’s. However, my bolt gun, and your Mosin, don’t have the same capabilities even though they are the same caliber.

The point I’m trying to make is I don’t need or want or can afford a rifle that costs that much to shoot sub-MOA for target shooting. You want to bring an AR-10 over to my place and I’ll shoot sub-MOA all day with it. Any caliber. Any gun is going to be accurate at 1 MOA or better at 100 yards with match grade ammo, a good scope and a rifle rest. It all depends on the skill of the shooter and the quality of the ammo. I’ve shot commercial 5.56/.223 ammo and cannot get better than 4MOA at 100 yards from it.
I would love to have one, but do not see the need or have the money for it.

Geoff, Your comparisons of your DPMS and Mosin to this AR-10 is like comparing a 1995 Jeep Wrangler with a 2014 F-250. Yeah, they are both viable modes of transportation that will get you where you need to go, but still pretty different at their core. Just because you cannot afford/don’t want/aren’t in the market for a quality made vehicle(rifle), doesn’t mean that everyone else has to not want one. A simple “nice rifle, but I’ll keep what I’ve got” would have sufficed. The point of this article was to compare a high quality AR-10 at this price, to other quality AR-10s priced much higher, not much older Russian designed bolt guns. Completely different animals…

You realize this is a .308 caliber rifle. Not a .223, correct?

Even the super-stock base model of your beloved DPMS brand’s new GII AP4 in 308/7.62 NATO caliber has an MSRP of $1500. One with hardware more comparable to the 2VA style is going to run $2400.

Geoff, please take this to heart! Your an idiot….my $975 RRA tactical op will put 5 rounds, yes 5 rounds of ar5.56 bulk pack touching at 100yds, in fargo ND wind…my Russian mosin nagant has printed 3rd groups UNDER 1.5-2″ 3times the ONE time I took it out with garbage bulk Russian ammo…I wouldn’t be bragging about SIX MOA lmfao…and if your curious, my RRA has a fixed 5x AR536 burris 3moa dot optic…I would sure hope your “pea shooter” would print as good with a 3×9 scope…in a rest…with “match grade” handloads…someone had to say it…
