I have a Stag model 3 with a 1:9 twist. I shoot 55 grain ammo and can shoot three inch groups at 100 yards with iron sights. It serves it’s purpose.

That was very well put, that’s exactly how I would describe the nuts and bolts of barrel length and twist rate. Good job.
It’s pretty simple regardless of length get a 1 in 8 twist with a .223 wydle chamber and you will be fine.
