Clearly I’m in the Wrong Business

Yesterday, a one-day gun exchange program in Los Angeles brought in 2,037 firearms. People who turned in firearms were given supermarket gift cards worth as much as $200 depending on the type of gun.

Firearms Collected

  • 901 handguns
  • 698 rifles
  • 363 shotguns
  • 75 “assault weapons”

This is just astonishing…and most certainly a viable business opportunity. I’m not sure how well it would work here in Houston (I mean, it’s Texas), but maybe I can convince Lonnie from Texas Custom Guns and Mr. Colion Noir to join forces with me and give it a try.

Given the current political climate, the rate that firearms are flying off the shelf, and the prices they are going for, it would be well worth our time financially.

Sorry, but I can not help with your business venture. I will never turn any gun in to anybody no matter how big the gift card. I don’t think it would be successful here in Texas. SORRY.

Be all the “assault” rifles were SKS’s with true high capacity clips!

Sorry can’t see it. If you don’t want your weapons anymore I’ll take them off your hands. Just for the pleasure of them.

But I wonder how many of those were actually functional firearms, and how many of them were broken, rusty junk that people pulled out of their sheds and attics. I’ve heard from previous buy backs in other places that the cops working the booths were instructed to take in anything offered to pad the numbers for the press. Partial guns, unrecognizable hunks of rust, even air guns and paintball guns have been “bought back” in these publicity stunts.

If I decide to ever sell one of my guns, I could sure get more money for it than just a gift card. It does sound like a publicity stunt.

Haha Roger people like you don’t participate in gun exchanges.

I wonder if I just posted around town that I’d buy firearms for $200 bucks each, I could sell them for more before this ban comes (if it comes), and strike it rich and buy my own island governed by its people.

Heath, that sounds like a very good idea, except for rusted guns, failure to operate guns, and maybe the gangsta’ that comes there to rip you off. Just make sure you have back up with a loaded firearm.
