Iraqi Christian Refugee Relief Mission

The crisis in Iraq continues to get worse. The terrorist group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL (formerly known as ISIS) has taken control over much of northern Iraq and is committing genocide on the minorities that live there. The animals of the Islamic State are beheading children, gang raping women and crucifying Iraqi Christians, Yazidis, and other minorities that live in the region. The Islamic State message is clear – convert to Islam, or die.

If you’re like me, you’ve watched in horror as this crisis has unfolded and wondered how in the world to help.

DVM D.A.R.T. | La Cima World Missions

DVM D.A.R.T., the Humanitarian Aid arm of Death Valley Magazine, in conjunction with La Cima World Missions are going to do just that – help. The DVM D.A.R.T. and La Cima World Missions team will soon be leaving for Iraq Kurdistan to mount an emergency Iraqi Christian Refugee Relief Mission.

DVM D.A.R.T. will be providing the “boots on the ground” aspect of the Humanitarian Aid mission, while La Cima World Missions will provide logistical, fundraising and other support. More about the mission:

Originally the plan was to have a team go to Mosul and the other Christian heavy areas of Northern Iraq. But we have consulted with several friends who have run hundreds of missions in Northern Iraq like our mission Team Leader James Price, and we have come to the conclusion that if we do not have a heavily armed team, then running a mission into Mosul and surrounding areas would be suicide. And even if we did have a team like that we would end up fighting the whole time, as much as we would like to do that, it is not the purpose of this mission. We want to help people, especially the children who are suffering the most. Fighting a war is not the business of D.A.R.T. or La Cima World Missions, we only wish to help people.

Mission Objective

To bring Medical Aid, food and water to Christian refugees who have fled ISIL controlled areas in Northern Iraq and have sought sanctuary in the Ainkawa neighborhood of Erbil. The team will land in Erbil, Kurdistan and then immediately provide water, food and medical care to the Iraqi Christian refugees.

The team has made contact with Christian groups in Kurdistan who require Humanitarian Aid assistance. Upon arrival, the team will identify the Humanitarian Aid needs of the refuges, and get to work providing those needs.

How You Can Help

Instead of bringing supplies with them, all Humanitarian Aid supplies – food, water, clothing, medical, etc – will be sourced locally in Kurdistan upon the team’s arrival. Mission Team Leader and DVM D.A.R.T. founder James Price had the following to say about their methodology:

From our experience running aid missions it’s significantly cheaper to source all aid supplies locally than to bring over tons of supplies from the US. We want people to know we are proud to show the refugee Christian Iraqi people and people around the world that when they need help, when evil wraps its hands around the innocent and when no one else will go – the American people will step up.

Donations to make this possible are desperately needed.

DVM D.A.R.T. is one of the only Humanitarian Aid groups that does not spend donations on any administration expenses or salaries. All mission volunteers pay their own way on missions, officers do not receive salaries or compensation for expenses, which means that 100% of your donations go directly to those in need. La Cima World Missions works in a similar fashion, and also does not spend donations on any administration expenses or salaries. Additionally, La Cima World Missions is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization, so your donations are tax deductible.
