Monderno Logo Coye Ridgeback

Recently I reviewed the custom version of the most excellent Coye Knives Ridgeback, a small fixed utility blade that I absolutely love. Well today, I’m extremely pleased to officially announce a limited run of Monderno logo custom Ridgebacks for sale.

Monderno logo Coye Ridgeback

First off, if you’re not familiar with the Ridgeback, please read my review to learn about the knife and its features. The Ridgeback comes in two formats: production and custom. The production knives are mass produced by Boker using 440C stainless, and the custom Ridgebacks are made by hand, one at a time, out of Bohler N690 stainless steel by Bill Coye himself.

The Monderno logo Ridgeback is a custom knife, with a few small differences from “normal” Coye Ridgebacks.

The biggest difference is of course the Monderno logo. On the presentation side of the blade you’ll see the Monderno helmet and shield logo, along with the serial number. You’ll also see “1st Run” – smart money is on there being future runs (though there are few guarantees in life, and sadly this isn’t one of them).

The other differences are really just features of the Ridgeback. Bill used a custom black/gray G10 handle material that at the time of writing is only available from Coye Knives on the Monderno Ridgebacks (though this will likely change in the future). Each Ridgeback also comes with soft loops as the belt attachment mechanism.

Price

If you’re familiar with the Ridgeback, then you should be able to guess the price. The Monderno logo Ridgebacks have a tumbled acid wash finish, and of course the custom stencil work – they are are $325 shipped.

Please note: the transaction will take place directly with Coye Knives and will not go through Monderno in any way.

Wish I could legally conceal a fixed black here in CA. I personally can’t really justify spending so much on a knife I couldn’t carry often or wouldn’t see much use. Looks beautiful though. Wish I had a “need” for this knife 🙂

That grip is amazing. Wonder if I can get that on the new forerunner?
