Does Your Pastor Carry a Gun?

This one does.

I like the Viking Preparedness YouTube channel – I of course don’t always agree with Pastor Joe (obligatory disclaimer), but he has a lot of knowledge and he shares it for free on his channel, covering many different topics from current events to all things preparedness.

On the topic above, church carry, I think you can probably guess why this is being discussed right now. Though I’ve never asked him, I don’t think my pastor carries a gun during service, but I most certainly do and have for years.

What about you? If you attend church, do you carry?

I have carried for years. I became serious about it after a gunman entered our services concealing a shotgun under his coat (the barrel was noticed as he stood to leave the building). Though he left without firing a shot, it could have turned out much worse. I now make it my custom to carry. Some members know, others do not. What is important is now we are not helpless victims. Due to my choice, others have decided to take the CHL course. I am not certain if they carry or not.

Once I got my CHL I decided to carry during services. Another thing to consider, we live in Colorado Springs…

All our Deacons carry. It’s not mandatory, we just think it’s smart.

At our church, an Assembly of God church, our pastor, our security team and various various members in the congregation, ALL Have CONCEALED permits and have their firearms on their person for ALL activities. We have a rather large church and feel the need for this. We have had theft of purses when ladies have gone down to the front to pray, also threats against the pastoral staff. You never know when something is going to happen. As Jeffrey from Alabama quoted Matt. 24:43.“But know this, that if the good man of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. ” Matthew 24:43, we are to be vigilant

Back in the 90’s, my wife was the pianist at a small non-denominational church. One Sunday morning while they were singing, two thieves came in. They took the offering plates and passed them down the aisles demanding money and jewelry from the worshipers. My wife just kept on playing as this happened. The thieves left, the pastor called the police and the whole congregation had to go down to police department and make statements about the robbery. As memory serves me, I don’t believe the thieves were caught .

I don’t carry in church. I’d like to, but Texas law states you cannot carry on the premises of a school, which our church has. We’ll see if our new law changes that.
