Piers Morgan, Tactical Firearms

Piers Morgan came to Tactical Firearms in Texas last night, to once again debate gun control. Piers had a number of guests on his show for the debate, including Jeremy Alcede, the owner of Tactical Firearms, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, Texas State Senator Dan Patrick, and Ted Nugent. Since Tactical Firearms is here in the Houston metro area, I felt compelled to watch my first episode of Piers Morgan live and take notes.

Piers Morgan and Jeremy Alcede

The show started off rough to say the least with Piers interviewing Jeremy Alcede. First the good. Mr. Alcede comes across as a perfectly nice guy, and he also seems well-intentioned. This was refreshing for me personally after the recent online ammunition ban situation. Mr. Alcede at least didn’t recommend banning anything outright.

Now the bad. I’m not going to rant about everything he said that was wrong or that I disagree with, but here a few highlights.

On the topic of home defense, Mr. Alcede does not recommend the AR-15, rather his preference is a shotgun.

For your home, I like shotguns because you don’t have to worry about missing.

For the record, that’s completely wrong. Next up, Mr. Alcede weighs in on folks who are mentally handicapped.

People who have metal retardation…they shouldn’t have guns, they should not have the right to vote, they shouldn’t have any rights in my opinion.

Wow. To be fair, I doubt Mr. Alcede meant to say what he did, but good grief man…

After some banter and shooting, Mr. Alcede then went on to insinuate that semiautomatic AR-15s can easily and readily be converted to full auto, and again reiterated that AR-15’s were a poor choice for home defense. Thanks for that, Jeremy.

He then played right into Piers’ hands by saying that we need Slide Fire stocks and AR-15’s because the military or the UN might try to come take out guns. For home defense, he again recommended a shotgun (ok, great) but then handed Piers what he called a “typical shotgun” with a pistol grip and no buttstock that was anything but typical, not to mention a poor choice for home defense.

Piers Morgan and Ted Nugent

Uncle Ted was by far the best interview of the night. Here are some highlights.

99.99% of the gun owners of America are wonderful people…perfectly safe, perfectly harmless…would you leave us the hell alone!

Amen.

You’re the perfect poster boy to stand up for the things that make no sense at all to common sense people.

Isn’t that the truth. Then Uncle Ted made my evening by calling out the President on Benghazi.

He [President Obama] had a chance to save four American lives in Benghazi and he refused to do so, and now he’s sending F-16’s to Egypt, so how can you believe this guy?

Thank you Mr. Nugent. Piers, predictably, wanted no part of that discussion. You definitely need to watch this one, and pay close attention to Piers’ eyes at the end. To say that he was pissed would be an understatement.

Wrapping Up

No matter what Piers says, last night was not the first time that he has fired a gun, at least not the clip we saw. I’m not saying the guy’s form was perfect or anything, but it’s clear he’s shot before. Also, did anyone else catch the grin he had on his face running the Ma Deuce, and the way he tried to hide it when he was done? The dirty hypocrite liked it, clearly.

To be fair, Piers Morgan did speak respectfully of Chris Kyle in reference to his murder and called him a “true American hero”. I don’t like Piers at all, but that’s a statement I can get behind.

Overall, I don’t think it went as well as it could have, but it certainly could have been worse. Another big thank you to Uncle Ted for wrapping up the show with an awesome interview.

1:19 second clip – It wasn’t used at Sandy Hook or the major most recent mass shootings. Pistols are the most commonly used used firearm for these types of shootings. I wouldn’t mind a serious debate if every extremist on every side didn’t lie every chance they got to try and prove their point.

Both sides? Ted didn’t lie at all?

Jeremy Alcede needs to STOP going on TV and the radio and running his mouth. It seems that every time he opens his mouth he sticks his foot in. I agree he seems like a nice guy but damnit man…

Imagine that, a gunshop owner who thinks people should have shotguns for home defense because they “can’t miss.”

I have found that the vast majority of people who work behind counters in gunshops know little about guns are rarely real shooters. …kind of like most manufaturers.

when are people going to stop saying the AR 15 was used at sandy hook. it was reported on the Today show. that the AR was STILL IN HIS TRUNK after the shooting. those poor kids were shot by the 4 handguns he had on him. even giving Piers Morgan the time of day makes him seem more credible. he is not a American and will never get it.

The Conn. Dept. of Emergency Services & Public Protection issued a statement on Jan 18th which listed the guns found in the school:

      -Bushmaster AR15
      -Glock 10mm
      -Sig P226

      Gun found in trunk:
      -Siaga 12ga

This is the official report – like it, or not.

Here comes the updated Dianne Feinstein Assault Shotguns ban. Clearly, nobody needs a weapon that can’t miss!

I also wish Mr. Alcede would stop going on TV and radio. He does not speak for all gun owners but the media will make it seem like he does.

Jeremy Alcede, says he can shoot 200 rounds a minute. That would be 6.5 standard 30 round magazines in 60 seconds with reloads. No one is that quick without full auto features or a bump stock. He needs to stop being the spokesman for the firearm community.

Cnn and Piers knew what they were doing. They weren’t going to go to a place and get handled by the owner and Ted. They picked an owner who had shown that he was with some of the policies they agreed with. They know alcede didn’t represent the majority of gun owners, but they portrayed him as an industry leader. His statements make him look asinine and he lost all credibility for fighting for gun rights when he said certain groups shouldn’t have rights.

Well done as always and thanks for sharing, Brandon. Would have love to have been there and seen it in person with you. Thanks to your update, I felt like I was pretty close to the action.

Moms and Dads know if they have wierd people living in their homes. That would be no place for accessible firearms of any kind. That would remove the bullied and video violence influenced murders to a degree. But the bad guys will always find a way to do what they do. And personal awareness and security is the law abiding citizens only protection. There are millions of AR15 type rifles being purchased right now. What do they hope to accomplish by banning them?

Jeremy Alcede said just enough truth, that you’d get behind what he said, if you didn’t really listen to him.

I found it interesting, to see Piers lean into the AR-15 before he shot. I’ve never seen anyone with a few minutes of training do that.

I wish a national news organization would call me for an interview. I definitely wouldn’t play into their agenda of them trying to make gun owners seem like a bunch of dumb hypocritical wackos. And I think I speek for all of us when I say that Piers Morgan just hears what he wants to and then puts words into pro gunners mouths. Also when he made the comment of what tyranny was and he said it was when the government would send our military after us. Im gonna correct you piers to say that tyranny, while could result into that happening but also means that the government is abusing its power to do what they want. Kind of what they are doing right now with our constitutional rights. Kiss our @$$ Mr. Morgan. You sir are nothing but a Wanker.
