All across the country, sheriffs are taking a stand on gun control. We saw it recently in Utah, and now again in Texas, where the latest sheriff to take a hard line stance on gun control is Collin County Sheriff Terry Box.
Statement
Mr. Box released the following statement about unconstitutional gun control.
In light of recent events I feel I need to make a public statement of my views on this subject. As the Sheriff of Collin County, Texas, I have for the past 28 years served to protect and keep safe all citizens of our county, recognizing the trust placed in me with this profoundly important responsibility.
Unfortunately, the recent surge in the numbers of innocent victims who have died at the hands of unstable criminals has prompted politicians in Washington to seek to pass laws that would seriously erode the constitutional rights of innocent and law abiding citizens.
Neither I, nor any of my deputies, will participate in the enforcement of laws that violate our precious constitutional rights, including our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
As long as I remain Sheriff of Collin County, I will not participate in the actions of misguided politicians who seek to impede our citizen’s right to all of the privileges afforded by our Constitution.

Don’t think for a second that Washington isn’t paying very close attention to how this is playing out, and you should be too. Congress can pass whatever laws they want, but without enforcement they are meaningless. It’s great to hear sheriffs like Mr. Box take a stand like this, but IF they manage to pass unconstitutional gun control (still a big IF as it stands today in my opinion), you can be sure that this story line is only just beginning.
I think its very important to the mess. across to your local sheriff. Here is the letter I wrote to my sheriff on Jan. 16:

As a law abiding citizen and owner of firearms, I feel it is imperative that no more restrictions be placed upon us. With thousands of gun laws already on the books, additional regulations further restrict and penalize those who follow the law, and does nothing to restrict the criminal who is set on breaking the law. I sincerely hope you agree.
As you may already be aware, a trend is developing across the country of sheriffs who are vowing to uphold their allegiance to the Constitution and not supporting any new gun laws that are unconstitutional. Will you join them in their stance? I have great respect for your position and consider the sheriff as the “law of the land” for the county. I am very interested in knowing your position on this topic.
