SSA Plan B Mag Extension/Base Pad for the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield

My buddy Paul from Safety Solutions Academy (SSA) has some pretty cool news – SSA is launching a patent pending magazine extension/base pad for the Smith & Wesson Shield this week designed to alleviate some of the issues people have had with the OEM magazine base pad and sleeve.

The Smith & Wesson M&P Shield is an outstanding handgun. Its size, reliability and ease of recoil management make it an outstanding choice for concealed carry. Its major downfall is the poor performance of the extended magazine sleeve. The Plan B is aimed squarely to alleviate the issues found with the factory parts: OEM issue 2: Magazine sleeve interaction with the heel of the hand.

  • OEM issue: Magazine extensions sleeve slip.
  • OEM issue: Magazine sleeve interaction with the heel of the hand.
  • OEM issue: Difficult emergency magazine manipulation.

The Plan B Magazine Extension Sleeve and Base Pad will be sold as a three piece set including a Plan B Magazine Extension Sleeve, a Plan B Magazine Extension Base Pad and a Plan B Standard Base Pad.

You can read more here – pre-order goes live this week. The first batch will be black anodized.

I stopped using the extended magazine for these very reasons. I ended up putting the Pearce grip extensions on the flush mags to get a better purchase on the grip for my pinky finger.

Awesome – reloads with the Shield are annoying for me because I pinch my hand nearly every time. This looks like it might alleviate that problem for me.
