They’re not coming for your guns…or so they said. Some of you were even foolish enough to believe them.
Colorado Democrats recently introduced House Bill 1224, which has passed the House and is slated to be debated in the Senate on Monday, March 4. If you recall, this is the bill that bans standard capacity magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. The same bill that, if passed, will force Magpul to leave Colorado.
In the frenzy surrounding the magazine capacity debate, and the news that Magpul will leave Colorado if passed, most people, including me, missed the part of HB 1224 that would also ban pump shotguns. Yes, pump shotguns. The bill states (emphasis added):
Pump shotguns, like this Remington 870, can be readily converted to accept an extended magazine, and would therefore be banned in Colorado if HB 1224 passes. This is the bill that House Democrats introduced, and then passed. This is the bill that Senate Democrats have passed with a voice vote, and the bill that Governor Hickenlooper said he would sign into law.
(2) (a) “LARGE-CAPACITY MAGAZINE” MEANS A FIXED OR
DETACHABLE MAGAZINE, BOX, DRUM, FEED STRIP, OR SIMILAR DEVICE
CAPABLE OF ACCEPTING, OR THAT CAN BE READILY CONVERTED TO
ACCEPT, MORE THAN FIFTEEN ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION OR MORE THAN EIGHT SHOTGUN SHELLS.
Tell me again that they’re not coming for your guns.
It really makes me wonder if that’s why Vice President Joe Biden has been telling people lately that all they need is a double barrel shotgun, because that’s the only weapon that Democrats seem to think you should own.
Here’s a video from CBS Denver with more details.
