What Now?

Another election passes. Many of you are angry about the outcome. I am too. But truthfully, I’ve been angry with the direction our government is heading for quite some time now. The Patriot Act, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), our country’s insurmountable debt, the list goes on.

Last night was but another reminder that liberty dies to the sound of applause.

As I’ve said in several previous posts, I believe our country faces very tough times ahead. With problems this big, it’s easy to have a feeling of helplessness – believe me, I understand. But take heart, all is not lost. Not yet at least. This nation is still teeming with Patriots that love America, love the American people, and love liberty.

The Republic will only truly be lost when there are none left to fight for it.

What You Can Do

The first thing you can do is to remain vigilant. As much as some of us hate politics, and believe me I count myself among that number, we cannot ignore it. As the Greek statesman Pericles once said, “Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in you.”

When the next piece of liberty stealing legislation gets introduced, fight it. Write letters, make phone calls, inform your friends and family, do something. Don’t just sit around and wait for someone else to fight the good fight.

The second thing you can do is live as freely and independently as possible. Some call this the prepper lifestyle, others call it self-sufficiency and self-reliance. I simply call it common sense.

Get out of debt to the best of your ability. Have enough food and water stored to feed yourself and your family in the event of a crisis, longer if possible. Work on backup power supplies or even towards personal energy independence. Consider moving some portion of your wealth out of the market and into things like land, precious metals (I recommend Silver and copper jacketed lead) and food. Grow your own food. Hunt for your own food.

Third, repair any damage you have caused with your friends and loved ones. Some of you need to remember that your brother isn’t just the guy who has the same parents that you have. We are in this together, Democrats, Republicans, and everyone else.

broth·er·hood

Noun:
  1. The relationship between brothers.
  2. The feeling of kinship with and closeness to a group of people or all people.

Lastly, be prepared to stand and defend all of the above if necessary.

Very sad that so many choose short-term comfort and appeasement over longer term strength and sufficiency…but that’s also why so many view people who plan ahead as weirdos…up until they realize their car is out of gas after a storm hits their city.

Thank you for this – I do believe that the American people will rise to meet the challenges we face together, and we can find a way forward, but we do have to be vigilant about justice, freedom, liberty, personal responsibility & stewardship of this beautiful planet.

This post would have had the same relevance even if Romney would have won.

Well stated Brandon. We must NOT give up and pray daily .I might also add that we should stay away from the poison of the mainstream media.

Brandon, well thought/written, this maybe some of your best, thank you. I would add to brotherhood – vigilant.

Brandon, I wanted some information about muzzle flip on the Nano and the Shield. I read your comparision review, but didn’t get the information I wanted. Would you please comment on muzzle flip during shooting?
    Thanks.

    • Brandon November 7, 2012 at 3:02 pm #

Sure – muzzle flip is relative and will be shooter dependent, but my perception was that the Shield had less muzzle flip and felt recoil than the Nano.

Good stuff. I disagree about Democrats, though. People who ‘simply disagree’ and ‘peacefully’ vote for statist representation in a government that threatens your liberty through lethal coercion are NOT your friends, they are the smiling tools of your demise.

    THINK about that.

Rest assured my friend, it will not be my demise. But I do get your point and it is well taken.
