CA Gov. Signs Confiscation Funding Bill

A few weeks ago we told you about the California gun confiscation funding bill that passed the state legislature. Yesterday, California Governor Jerry Brown predictably signed the bill into law. For more information on this bill and why I think it’s a bad idea, read my original post, but here’s something I found interesting this morning.

The Los Angeles Times has a story out on the bill being signed into legislation with a poll attached. The poll asks a simple question about the controversial confiscation program: Should this program be a model for the nation?

Before I voted (I of course voted no, no big surprise there) I could not see the results, but I’ll be honest. I expected it to be at least 50/50, and I would not have been surprised to see overwhelming support for the bill. You know what though? I was wrong. Here’s a screenshot of the results at the time of writing.

California Poll

Interesting. What would be even more interesting is to see this vote distributed by location, as I would like to know what percentage of Californians support this program. I have a feeling that sites like Drudge Report linking to this article have skewed the vote.

This is why I watch polls (the credible ones), and why I am always in favor of gun control legislation being brought to a vote. Polls tell us how close we are to losing our liberties (for this is the way that liberty will die in my opinion), and gun control legislation voting patterns tells us who we need to work against in the next election cycle.

Ever since the gun control measures got voted down a few weeks ago, the anti-gunners are now trying to use peoples approval rating to show that they apparently should’ve voted yes. They want to use approval ratings now to push gun agenda.

Those of us with a brain can understand more than JUST gun control measure affect a persons approval rating though. Going to be a long hard fought rode for sure for the 2A =(

Since the morons in CA asked if this should be a model for a national law, it only makes sense people other then residents of the Peoples Republic should vote.

It’s too bad the CA doesn’t just go bankrupt and get it over with.

Gun control is a total fallacy. Is my (unloaded) 12 gauge going to get itself out of it’s hard case, find a box of shells, load them into the gun, rack the action, and go kill someone? Or, is my butcher knife in my kitchen knife block going to remove itself from the knife block and go kill someone? If you put a bottle of booze in a car, is it going to start the ignition, drive around, and slam into another car and kill someone? The answer is, of course, a resounding no. These objects can be dangerous, yes, but they are also useful tools. They are only DANGEROUS if used by DANGEROUS people! Which is why gun control will do absolutely nothing to reduce crime.
