Glock 42 Leaked?

In the past few weeks the forums and gun blogs have been buzzing with talk of two new Glock pistols to be announced next month (January), presumably at SHOT Show: the Glock 41 and 42. It looks like we now know what the Glock 42 is thanks to leaked images – a single-stack .380.

Honestly I’m shocked it took this long to leak – Glock really did a good job keeping this under wraps so long. The photos look to be the cover and article insert from a gun magazine (I’m guessing Guns & Ammo) and appear to be the real deal.

If the photos are fake, then my hat is off to the person running Photoshop.

As for the Glock 42…though you can’t see me right now, I’m yawning. Here’s hoping the Glock 41 is a 9mm.

Not overly excited due to the caliber but I would carry one due to the size as compared to my G26 in certain situations. I would rather carry it then a ruger or Keltec..

Yeah I’m just the opposite – if it had been a single stack 9mm, then I would have probably bought one once the bugs were worked out, but a .380? Not interested.

      Always good for a backup.

From what I’ve seen, the 41 is a long slide 45.

I’ve seen that rumor as well…if it’s true, that will mean Glock went 0/2 for me.

Don’t know if this is a true story or Internet games but assuming it is real for the naysayers about the caliber I have to ask would you want to be shot with a .380?

Having heard the argument that “anything less then 9mm is not a serious gun fighting caliber” (what ever the hell that is suppose to mean) people have been getting killed with .380’s for years just like .22, .32 Etc. I would prefer to carry a larger caliber but some countries won’t allow the carrying of military calibers. In any “serious” gunfight any caliber gun is better then no gun.

If Glock came out with a .380 pistol I would imagine that it would beat a Walther PPK in reliability, weight, sights and finish. would I buy one? Sure why not add one to the collection,

I wouldn’t want to get shot by a .380. I also wouldn’t want to get shot be a .22, but that doesn’t mean that I would carry either of the two calibers for self defense. That is a ridiculous factor considering that not wanting to get shot by a certain caliber doest not magically make that caliber effective for stopping a threat. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to get shot be a BB gun not because it would necessarily stop you in your tracks but because it would hurt and be really annoying.

Give us something with a 9mm minimum so I can sell me SIG p290

Not surprised. Glock loves to do shit ass backwards. I love my 19, but glad I didn’t wait around for a single stack 9mm. 30s is stupid, now a pocket .380 (like 3 years too late) and a long slide .45? Damn. Talk about a swing and a miss..

      Bingo.

The 380 market is under served. This is the right way to go. Hey, 380 is in the ballpark with 38 special (for effectiveness). It is the reliability and conceal-ability that hasn’t been well-served by other companies. Glocks can continue to compete in a crowded market, or put their talents to better use in the deep concealment area. This makes sense, to me. 380’s are as good as it gets in effectiveness, really small size, and low recoil.

Well you make an interesting point about the lack of reliability in the current 380 market…but comparing the size of the G42 with some of the single stack 9mm’s on the market, it seems like it would make more sense to carry the 9mm.

I much rather it of been in a larger caliber, but .380 isn’t bad. There was a you tube video on this about a month ago, it was false…Well I think it was, anyway I would by it like I would by the 36 (.45)

Until they change the import laws or the gun they can come out with as many new 380’s they want…. but they aint coming into the country for civialins

    • Brandon December 26, 2013 at 3:05 pm #

They are making the Glock 42 here in the US.

  9. Gregg December 26, 2013 at 3:11 pm #

I’ll pass on the .380, no need to add another caliber to the house. Now, I agree with Brandon, here’s hoping the G41 is in 9mm!

    • PaCo SGM (R) December 26, 2013 at 4:25 pm #

I would like to be able to have a pistol available for the normal ammo available .380, 9mm, .45 if you don’t have ammo of one caliber you have the option of another now days you never know what you are going to be able to get when you go out looking, better to have a platform that are similar in make and model. IMHO

Looks like a Gen4 style frame. If the mag release can be flipped for a lefty I’ll buy the first one I see.

It makes sense that Glock would enter this market with the single stack sub compacts, but why not a 9mm (or as other’s are going to suggest that 9mm is next)??
They’re a little too late for me as I’m happy with my Shield and would probably try an XDS before this one.

Looking at that the leaked “article” I am not convinced that it is real. Tenifer is no longer used by GLOCK and hasn’t been since 2011. There are no finger grooves. The slide is not reduced at the end like the 26/27. It feels like a publicity stunt to get people talking about it online. I personally would love for GLOCK to start distributing the USA made G25 and G28, but I might be interested in a single stack .380.

  13. PatriotGeek December 27, 2013 at 7:09 am #

Glock has had the Model 28 for years… Just cannot import it due to ATF rules.
It is however available to Law Enforcement because they are above the ATF rules…

  15. Paul F. December 27, 2013 at 2:34 pm #

Eh, do some research, the Kahr PM9 blows them away…

  16. FRED M. December 27, 2013 at 6:19 pm #

You want to trust your life with a .380 knock yourself out ASSCLOWNS !!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Brandon December 28, 2013 at 10:09 am #

Easy Fred…380 isn’t my choice either, but to each their own. I’d rather have a 380 than nothing.

      • David M December 28, 2013 at 10:13 pm #

Will buy one for my wife to replace less reliable 380 compact. Perfect caliber for her.

  17. eric December 28, 2013 at 3:05 pm #

I like the single stack idea from such a reliable and trustworthy source as Glock. Something a little smaller than a G26, in 9mm, and I’m sold. This could be a test case for a sub-sub-compact for Glock – if it appears to be popular, they could release one in 9mm later.

  18. peterK December 28, 2013 at 4:03 pm #

So many haters. I think this is incredibly interesting. I think I’d rather have this pocket .380 than anything that others that I’ve seen. Even with a slightly heftier pricetag.

And of course people will cry about the caliber, but as a caliber designed for guns like this I really don’t have a problem with it…

    • peterK December 28, 2013 at 4:04 pm #

      any of the others*

    Too little too late
Ruger is smaller, heckKahr 9mm is smaller
    Shield by Smith is out
Glock missed the boat again and again
