Haley Strategic/BCM Jack Carbine

Last night we found out about the much rumored Jack Carbine, which is an AR collaboration between Haley Strategic and Bravo Company Manufacturing (BCM). This carbine has been whispered about for a while now, and is now confirmed.

Although I haven’t handled the Jack Carbine as of yet, I feel pretty safe saying that there’s nothing magical about it. There will certainly be a lot of hype surrounding the Jack, and rightly so in my opinion. When names like Travis Haley and BCM collaborate on a product, chances are it’s going to be rock solid.

Here’s a product video from Haley and BCM.

BCMGUNFIGHTER Compensator

BCMGUNFIGHTER Compensator

Personally, I’m most interested in the BCMGUNFIGHTER Compensator – a comp that is also supposed to do a good job hiding flash. When these become available, expect to see a review.

Looks like a nice AR, but honestly anyone can come close to building this with a credit card and 1 day researching on the Internet. While I like and appreciate everyone involved with this project, it just looks like one big marketing campaign; big names and a slick video. I’ll pass.

Can you explain any advantages of having a permanent comp on a 14.5″ barrel vs. just having a 16″ barrel with a threaded end? I notice that some other BCM carbines are set up the same way. Seems limiting if you ask me.

Well it all comes down to personal preference, but a 14.5″ barrel with a pinned/welded muzzle device gets you the shortest barrel length package you’re gonna get without a SBR tax stamp, so that’s a big plus. A 14.5″ is in my opinion the best of both worlds barrel length giving you a bit of weight reduction and increased wieldability over 16″.

I chuckle when I read people saying they can build better for less. Read the spec sheet, go price price this rifle out. Don’t forget to add in the price of the cerakote.
