Kerry to Sign UN Arms Treaty

Reuters is reporting that Secretary of State John Kerry plans to sign the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty tomorrow, September 25, 2013.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, in a move that puts the Obama administration at odds with the powerful American gun lobby, will sign the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty regulating the $70 billion international conventional arms business, diplomats said on Tuesday.

A senior State Department official said President Barack Obama’s administration would notify the U.S. Senate on Tuesday and Kerry would sign the treaty on Wednesday on the sidelines of the annual U.N. General Assembly in New York.

Now while this is certainly NOT a good thing, keep in mind that after the treaty is signed it requires ratification by the Senate, where it will have to pass by a two-thirds vote, which almost assuredly will not happen. Even so, the assault on the Second Amendment continues.

Can it re ratified at a later date? So at anytime in the future if they have the votes, say 10 years from now they can vote to ratify it?

Good question Jay, I’ve seen conflicting information on this one so I’m not sure.

I do not trust our politicians either. I fear they will sell us out for whatever riches they have been promised. I am a Marine and a good Christian man, but I am afraid of what I would do if things do go south!

Hopefully it wont take the UN invading us for people to wake up about these people giving away our rights and freedoms.

FYI, the price of 5.56 looks like it’s steady about $480 per 1000 – this is for the XM855

Don’t bet that our resident clown and his posse won’t enact various parts of the treaty by executive fiat. Jackasses like McCain and other socialists won’t oppose im either.

Dan the difference between “lexington” and what you’re describing is, instead of the British. Or some other foreign army. This fight will be with the police and the govenment of the United States.

Brandon, treaties, once signed by our executive branch, by law do not have to be resubmitted every year. They can sit in the senate until the “right” senators emerge to pass them. So,once signed, this thing will hang over Americans head like the sword of DEMOcles until the senate dusts it off and pushes it again. I know it’s spelled damocles.
