Massive Gun Ban Introduced in Oregon

Democrats in Oregon are at it again. Two days after the Senate Democrats dropped their attempt to ban modern firearms and feeding devices, House Democrats introduced House Bill 3200.

HB 3200 is Sponsored by Representatives Mitch Greenlick, Jules Bailey, Peter Buckley, Michael Dembrow, Lew Frederick, Tobias Read, Jeff Reardon, Carolyn Tomei and Senators Ginny Burdick, Jackie Dingfelder, Mark Hass, Laurie Monnes Anderson, Rod Monroe, Chip Shields, Elizabeth Steiner Hayward.

HB 3200 does the following:

  • Creates a crime of unlawful possession or transfer of assault weapon or large capacity magazine. Punishes by maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment, $250,000 fine, or both.
  • Requires current owners to dispose of or register assault weapons and large capacity magazines.
  • Directs Department of State Police to conduct background checks and maintain registry of assault weapons and large capacity magazines.
  • Declares emergency, effective on passage.

This is one of the most tyrannical bills we’ve seen proposed to date. Not only does it ban most modern semiautomatic rifles and pistols, but it allows warrant-less search of your home, and creates a state-wide registry of remaining firearms, to which each person is allowed exactly one:

A person may not register more than one assault weapon and three large capacity magazines under this section. Additional assault weapons and large capacity magazines must be disposed of in the manner specified in section 3 of this 2013 Act.

Under their definition of an assault weapon, this means that you can have either a pistol or a semiautomatic rifle, but not both.

If you live in Oregon, contact your Representative and Senator today and tell them to vote NO on HB 3200. If you don’t live in Oregon, contact all of them and let them know you’ll never visit their state again if they pass this legislation.

Wow, this is a huge disappoint, I thought we’d persevered when they dropped the previous bills. I’m planning to move to Oregon in a couple of months so this is immensely disturbing to say the least. I will be doing my part to reach out to the legislators.

Raise your hand if you’re shocked that it’s coming from the Democrat Party…no one?

The traitors need to be stripped of power and thrown in prison.

Wow, more psychotic bull crap from the crazy lefties here! I used to like being a native Oregonian but these asshats have destroyed it on so many levels. Ironic, we were looking to move within the state of Oregon. For now I will do my part to legally resist this but this is testing my GTFO mechanism in a big way# We must be heard and prevail with diligent efforts and intelligent articulation.

I think the democrat party across the country has totally lost their collective minds and all respect for the constitution of the US. Rise up and fight back…call legislators….inundate them with emails and letters….help them remember the elections of 2014 are coming soon….whatever it takes. I will never visit Oregon if this passes….and I would urge some of you Left coasties if you want out of tyrannical states….move to Oklahoma or Texas…move anywhere there is a red state.

They should all be on trial for treason.

      Yes they should.

I sure hope the police are not that stupid to think people will go for this as I see a lot of police getting killed as people have a right to be armed and free to have these guns and mags.People are sick of these dead beat people in office.

From the Oregon State Constitution Bill of Rights..since their representatives Do not actually read what they are supposed to uphold….: Section 27
Right to bear arms; military subordinate to civil power.
The people shall have the right to bear arms for the defence of themselves, and the State, but the Military shall be kept in strict subordination to the civil power

The violators of their oath of offices need to understand the people of Oregon need not obey this UnConstitutional Bill should it pass according to 16 Am Jur 2d, Sec 177 Late 2d, Sec 256. “No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law and no courts are bound to enforce it.” If this bill passes, then the officials that started the bill need to resign for violating their oath of office. If the elected officials do not resign their office, then the officials that started the bill need to be impeached for violating their oaths of office. Nothing in this bill states how the government and law enforcement intend on removing firearms from the hands of criminals. All I see is draconian controls being placed on the law abiding citizen that don’t need the controls. The notion that thousands of law abiding citizens that don’t abide in this UnConstitutional bill becoming criminals is appalling. Until all the current bills are put into the official government shredder, I will never vote for a Democrat again.

Yet again, the asshats of Portland are trying to dictate their agenda upon the rest of the state. Perhaps they would feel safer if they just erect a wall all around its borders? But they’d have to pad them… somebody might walk into one and hurt themself.

The Obamination administration is pushing state level Demonocrats to advance his agenda of disarming law abiding citizens that much is clear. By pushing “gun control” in this manner, he the liar in chief doesnt have his finger prints on said draconian tactics. This is his way on everything…nothing is his “fault”. Our country is going down little by little just like dominos. Eventualy our Republic will either submit or there will be another revolution/civil war. That is why the DHS is purchasing 1.6 billion rounds of ammo people. Domestic drone use is on the rise, government scanning of gmail acounts without a warrent, the EPA is out of control, and the list goes on and on. Law abiding, tax paying, country loving people are now considered an enemy of the state. Every day our liberties are under assault from “our” gevernment…this is sickening and I truelly fear dark days are in store. Prepare the best you can and pray people…

Sorry for the typos, I just woke up and already I am pissed off at what is going on in our once great and free nation.

I am always amazed by the fact that our elected officials have no conceptual understanding of the either the US Constitution, the decisions of the SCOTUS, and the contents of the Constitutions of the States in which they serve.

The 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution states very clearly that the people’s right to keep and bear “arms” “shall not be infringed”, With the passing of every new restriction on “arms” by either the individual States or the US Congress or by Presidential Executive Order becomes another “infringement” against that right. I would also like to point out that no where in the US Constitution (nor in that of many individual States) do the words “shall not be infringed” appear in relation to any other “Constitutional Right”.

Some who have posted their comments here go so far as to call these individuals, who have been elected by the citizenry to “represent” them; to uphold and ensure that their Constitutional Rights (both State and Federal) are not taken from the; in their frustration have named them “traitors”, I myself would not go that far. I would however name them as “oath breakers” and do whatever legally was within my power to ensure either their removal from office or that they are never reelected to public office again.

This flagrant move to disenfranchise the citizens of the States, whether it be OR, WA, CO, NY, CT, or any other state is at least in my mind not about safety, not about children, but is simply about “control”. It is much easier to control an “unarmed and defenseless” individual than it is to control someone with the means to protect, not only themselves, but also their families, and their Country.

  19. Susan February 23, 2013 at 9:05 pm #

I live in Oregon, am legal to conceal carry and they will have to pry my firearm out of my cold dead hands. I’m ASHAMED of our state if they are that damned stupid. Although the constitution means nothing to George Soros: aka Barack Obama

  20. Ron February 24, 2013 at 12:09 pm #

This law should be a of the people. Not our representives. This is our country. Not our so called representives. I agree, come election time, if your reprsentive has voted for this, they need to be unemployed.

I have contacted my reps. They will not let this get out of committee. I have offered to fund the impeachment of these traitors. My local rep thinks this is a great idea.

it seems to me when i hear responses to the oregon gun ban people are only talking about ‘assault’ rifles. this bill will actually make any semi-automatic pistol illegal. semiauto shotguns as well as any rifle with a pistol grip. virtually every kind of gun that has bee sold in oregon will be banned. lpease read HB 3200 in full. its crazy.
