Smith & Wesson Shield Clue #1

Update 4/12/2012: The Smith & Wesson Shield has arrived!

Today at 12:00 noon EST, Smith & Wesson released a puzzle piece clue to their new pistol on their Facebook page, but only for 12 minutes. After 12 minutes, they deleted the post. It looks like they are going to continue doing this every day until 4/12/20012 when the new pistol is revealed. We’ll do our best to catch all of the puzzle pieces!

If you missed it, here you go! In the M&P logo you can clearly see what appears to be the back of the new pistol. So at this point I think it’s safe to say that it will have the excellent M&P slide serrations, and an external safety. I’m sticking with my original guess of a single stack 9mm.

What do you think? Check out clue #2 here.

Glad you could grab it. I knew it was coming but there was no way I was going to be free during that ridiculous 12 minute window. Got my fingers crossed for something good and hopefully innovative. But what’s with that big old hole on what looks like the grip panel? A deep grip panel hole? Some sort of (ugh) lock?

Yeah, I saw that. Possibly a striker deactivator?

The exciting thing for Smith and Wesson is that it’s already in production and will be shipping the week they announce it April 12 at NRA. With the order freeze at Ruger due to heavy demand from public for firearms, Smith and Wesson is going to sell every unit they can produce, no matter what this new concealed carry pistol is.

Exciting times for shareholders of SWHC.
