Tactical Firearms Reverses Position

Yesterday we reported that Jeremy Alcede, owner of Tactical Firearms here in the Houston metro area, stated in an interview that he supports a ban on online ammunition sales. Predictably, this didn’t go over too well with anyone who is even slightly liberty minded. Here are just a few of the posts covering the topic around the web.

In response to the tidal wave, Alcede released a statement on his Facebook page (personal page by the way, Tactical Firearms doesn’t update their public Facebook page, and all negative comments from yesterday have been deleted) and his website stating he has changed his mind, and that he made the statements out of ignorance. More information and analysis here.

Hopefully Alcede’s change of heart is sincere, and this is the last time he throws us under the bus siding with the gun grabbers. I don’t know the man, so I’ll take him for his word, give him the benefit of the doubt and say good on him for admitting he was wrong.

What say you?

i don’t blame him for getting a change of heart. it was brutal on his page. the only thing i wonder about is whether its heartfelt or just a business move to keep from losing customers.

the kind of thinking he showed yesterday is why we eventual lose fights. compromise on our part always comes with us losing rights. besides the anti-gun/liberals have no off switch.

first the mayor of New York went after guns, now sodas, next popcorn…

Yeah I’m not buying that he was ignorant. In his own interview he said:

The only good thing that could come out of this is, y’know, it’s gonna not allow all these big online companies to purchase ammo from the manufacturers so the manufacturers are gonna be overloaded with ammo, so guess what that means? They’re gonna be calling me sayin’, “Look, I’m gonna give you an extra dollar-fifty off off a box when you buy it. Please buy it.” So it might actually lower the cost for you, the consumer. I know when I get it lower, I’m gonna sell it lower to you.

Does that sound ignorant to you? He knew exactly what he was saying.

My opinion on the online sales ban was clearly made out of being uneducated in the way that laws are passed.

What does understanding the legislative branch have to do with supporting a law that would eliminate your competition have to do with anything?

    I’m calling BS.

I hear you TK. By the way, I added block quote formatting to your comment but I did not change anything else.

He’s backpedaling like a champ. I think he realized that his comments will impact his bottom line, and is trying to save face. I don’t buy it. He was looking to cash in on our rights.

I think I have a very hard time believing that someone could have a 180 degree opinion change on a topic like that in all of 24 hours unless he realized that his business’ bottom line was on the chopping block.

I further think more than a few comments in his apology are disingenuous to the point of being damned near lies, including the whole, “oh, but I didn’t know online ammunition purchases were such a big deal… but I do know I am competitive with their prices!” schtick.

In other words, I ain’t buyin’ it. But given I was not likely to ever give him business regardless, it does not really matter :).

Well – let us know if he backs away again. We all need to stick together or the goblins will get us!!!

Divide and conquer, and he fell for it. And, that’s how it all ends.

Given his attacks/comments on members voicing their opinions on TexasGunTalk.com, his “reversal” is nothing more than an attempt at damage control – he went so far as to post personal private contact information on one person via his (Alcede’s Tactical Firearms Facebook page) that contacted him for a response/reply!

There’s class, low class and no class – and this guy’s set a new low, imo.

    His “apology” rings hollow.

He’s either the most ignorant guy in America…or he’s a liar.

My money is on the latter.

Well… I guess it wasn’t the “last time” he threw us under the bus… He felt like it was also important to go on Piers Morgan and explain how ARs weren’t good for home defense and that he apparently agrees with Joe Biden about how you “can’t miss” with a shotgun.
