The PHLster ACCESS remains one of my favorite appendix carry Kydex holsters for its design features, quality and performance (see my review here), and today we’re going to take a look at the recently updated version of the ACCESS.
PHLster is a small custom Kydex shop located in Philadelphia with just two employees, so as PHLster’s popularity has grown, so has the amount of time you have to wait to get a holster. However, PHLster recently made some changes to the ACCESS holster and their production methods that has lowered this lead time. They accomplished this by making their own custom molds in-house, which has the added benefit of providing greater consistency between holsters.
The result is basically the same ACCESS holster that I previously reviewed, the only major difference being that PHLster now uses a soft loop instead of a G-Code clip as the belt attachment mechanism.
The PHLster ACCESS is still one of my favorite Kydex AIWB holsters, and at $58, I think it’s a great deal.

I love the holster that PHLster made for my G30. The most comfortable IWB holster I have used.
PHLster is awesome, and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended.
Too bad they no longer make holsters for the PPQ…
Curious as to why they went back to using soft loops? Those injection molded clips are pretty awesome.
PHLster said they were unhappy with some changes G-Code made to the molded clips. I’m not sure what changed though.
Thanks, guess going back to the basics is never a bad thing though.
When I ordered mine at least a year ago it said it would come with a GCode clip but it came with a soft loop. I used the soft loop for several months and, a couple months ago, switched it for a GCode clip. I like the clip better than the loop personally.
Me too – the loops are a pain to snap/unsnap (yes I know they get better with use), but I prefer a good clip.
It seems like their lead times are actually getting longer. It’s been over 6 weeks and I haven’t heard anything from the company.
Between this and the g code incog, which would you choose and why?
Both are great choices. The biggest differences are: materials (INCOG – tactical fuzz), belt attachment mechanism (INCOG – clip, ACCESS – soft loop), and retention (ACCESS – much stiffer).
