Sage Dynamics Handgun Reload Methods

Aaron Cowan from Sage Dynamics talks handgun reloads, and addresses some common controversies.

Is it a slide stop only, or is it also a slide release? Do you instead use some variation of the slingshot method? What if you’re shooting left-handed on a gun setup for a right-handed person, how does this affect how you reload under stress? Do you look at your gun while reloading? Where should the gun be while performing the reload?

Personally, I don’t think there’s only one right answer to any of the above questions. My preference is to keep the gun in my visual horizon, look at my gun while reloading only if I need to but otherwise keep my eyes up, and to use the “over the top” slingshot method because it always works, no matter the gun or what hand you’re using. But what do I know…here’s Aaron’s take on it.

Awesome. Aaron is a stud. Thanks for sharing this. It’s going to look awesome with my other YouTube training resume items.

Just realized the second half of my comment above makes me sound like a douche. That part was meant in jest. The intro was sincere. 🙂

Aaron, excellent points about left handers. I, too am left handed and had a few challenges at the beginning of my training. Another good takeaway from this is the pointers in this vid can help right handers learn how to operate more efficiently with their support side as well.
