Overview
Speer Gold Dot was the first high-performance handgun ammunition to be loaded with true, bonded-core bullets. Gold Dot bullet jackets are bonded to the core one molecule at a time using Speer’s Uni-Cor process. This process virtually eliminates core-jacket separation, the leading cause of handgun bullet failures.
The hollow point cavity is formed in two stages. The first establishes how far the bullet can expand; the second controls the rate of expansion. Gold Dot is assembled in quality brass cases, nickelplated for smooth feeding and protection from corrosion. For sure-fire ignition under real-world conditions, Speer uses quality CCI primers, and low-flash propellants matched to the performance needs of each cartridge.

Video Demonstration
This video by TNOutdoors9 shows a simple penetration and expansion test of the 9mm 115 grain Speer Gold Dot JHP using a diluted form of SIM-TEST Ballistic Testing Media. This format is comparable to ballistic gel, and includes four layers of denim. The video includes brief overview of the cartridge, recoil shots, and one shot test.
