Armed March on Washington D.C.

Bad idea of the week year…

Recently during a phone call with Brandon, the worst idea I’ve heard since I’ve had to deal with 2nd Lieutenants came up. There is a man who thinks an armed march around the streets of Washington D.C. will scare the government into stop being so tyrannical. Where do I even start to eat this proverbial elephant in the room?

First off and most obvious to me is this – we as firearm owners, manufacturers and aficionados have been under attack since this administration took office. Why in the name of Billy Bob Thornton would you instigate a fight with the White House and the Capitol Police over this matter? Especially when the administration is currently drowning in their own pool of scandal? Benghazi is soon to come to light, the IRS scandal is just now getting started, and the AP News scandal has made the Tea Party some new (albeit odd) supporters, two of which are none other than Piers Morgan and Joe Scarborough. While I am not one to back down from a fight, I do have enough sense to know when to sit back and enjoy watching someone get beat down without me having to lift a finger. This armed march on D.C. would be the political Godsend that the Democrats need in order to shift focus away from the current scandals. If anything we should be putting pressure on the Democrats, not relieving it.

Secondly, Mr. Adam Kokesh, (that’s the guy the good idea fairy visited) let me speak directly to you. Since you think you’re gonna stick it to the “Man” I’ll put this in Marine-proof terms that maybe you haven’t thought about. Your plan is to meet in Virginia with 5,000 of your closest armed friends with slung loaded weapons, walk into D.C., around the Capitol and White House, and then back into Virginia. My first question is this – when the Capitol Police, Homeland Security, and the Secret Service barricade that bridge and won’t let you into D.C., and you’re now in a choke point, a Mexican standoff with Federal Law Enforcement, will you and your 5,000 friends keep your wits about you and not draw your weapons? Will they have the trigger discipline to not do something stupid? Better question, will the L/E on the other side have the trigger discipline to not shoot you? If the answer is no to any of these questions, many lives, as well as the Second Amendment will die on that bridge, and guess what asshole, you will only make the tyranny worse, not better. While I realize you fancy yourself a Libertarian guidon bearer, I personally think this is another case of the “look at me, look at me” problem you have in common with Cindy Sheehan, Snooki, and Charlie Sheen.

Lets look at it from another direction shall we? Your stated goal is to show the government you won’t be intimidated, and create a high water mark to stem the tide of tyranny. Honestly, where do I sign up, but here’s the problem: when in history have our Senators, Representatives and leaders ever been scared into doing the right thing? Hell we have the “Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988” because some dumbass Senator saw in a movie that a Glock could pass through metal detectors. The fact is our Senators, Representatives and leaders are all pussies, with the exception of maybe Rand Paul and a few others. When faced with fear, their response is always to legislate it away, and in this case they would legislate the Second Amendment away. Believe me man, I am on your side, I just think your tactics suck. What about using the same playbook that just about bankrupted RECOIL magazine? You have a rabid following Mr. Kokesh, I know you have leadership, as you don’t make Sergeant in the Marine Corps without it.

But think about the people you will have following you on that choke point, think if they will be better served in voting these asshats out in November 2014, or casualties in our generation’s version of Lexington Green.

Well said Dean. I can’t decide if Kokesh is an attention whore or a guy with a really stupid idea. Either way, the 2A dies if he goes through with his idiotic plan.

    • Michael Stone May 20, 2013 at 5:02 pm #

If he can’t do this, isn’t the 2A already dead?
Better to write angry blog posts and write letters to congressfools, I suppose. Much safer than actual civil disobedience…

      • Jake May 20, 2013 at 6:07 pm #

By civil disobedience you mean breaking the law, right?

        • Frank Sharpe May 20, 2013 at 6:59 pm #

As much as I’m not for this march idea, simply arguing that “breaking the law” automatically makes it wrong is not a proper argument. There have been plenty of unjust and unconstitutional laws that people have blatantly disregarded and scoffed at in our nations history, voter literacy tests and segregation being good examples.

Rosa Parks committed an act of civil disobedience, and she also broke the law.

The best argument against this are the points Dean brings up. #1 being is this the best thing to do at this time? Will it be productive, or destructive?

I agree with Dean that it’s destructive at this point in time.

There are places to pick a fight and other places not to. This is a stupid and insane idea that falls right into their playbook and will reflect back on the rest of us.

I see Kokesh was just arrested in a demonstration in D.C. but I have yet to hear what the charges were.
After Dorner and the Boston Marathon craziness I imagine many of these asshole politicians would legislate firecrackers out of existence if Kokesh went through with his plan

    • Rock May 20, 2013 at 2:35 pm #

Resisting arrest, although by the footage all over YouTube it doesn’t at all look like it.

I will not stand here and let you drag Snooki down to this level. On a serious note I do not see that many people showing up for this. First of all there is walking involved, that will cause many not to show up. Secondly possible armed confrontation with police, since gun control failed I doubt many want to risk being arrested, let alone possibly die. If this guy could actually get 5,000 people to show up to an event we would all be better served if they just had signs.

    • TK May 20, 2013 at 2:00 pm #

Bingo – for all of those people on Facebook and YouTube talking shit, I’m guessing about 1% will actually show up.

      • Dean May 20, 2013 at 2:20 pm #

TK I have put the 1% to the test, I have given my cell number out to people before over open source, and I don’t even get so much as a prank call, or pizzas delivered to my place. People that run their mouth on the interwebs, are usually the largest vaginas since Kim Kardashian, oh wait my bad….

        • Brandon May 20, 2013 at 2:24 pm #

          True story.

        • Frank Sharpe May 20, 2013 at 7:08 pm #

          My experience, exactly.

He has said that he will not go over the bridge into DC if they won’t allow him to. So I am thinking it will most likely turn into a armed protest, much like the ones many of us were part of a few months ago. He is a smart guy but he can also be pretty brazen. So I’m kind of on the fence with this one myself.

When is this armed march planned to take place?

    • gill May 20, 2013 at 7:49 pm #

You know whats stupid. Taking advice from military leaders. Especially soldiers who made it into “elite” schools…. do you realize how much conditioning and brainwashing goes into those programs…. it was once claimed that the USMC alone has a better PR program than Goebbels could have ever dreamed of. But think about it…. they made a career out of following orders…. most never even question illegal orders…. how much does an individual like that even think for themselves.

      • Dean May 20, 2013 at 8:31 pm #

A hellva lot more than you know. And I would guess from the way the question was posed that you yourself have never stepped foot in an “elite” school. Mainly because if you even so much as googled the fucking thing you would see it takes creativity, resourcefulness and God given brains to pass these schools….. But I digress and go back to my ho hum zombie life…. duuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh

I remember a story of two opposing armies. (I don’t if I’ve got the numbers correct) One general had 3,000 men, the other 15,000 men. The General with the lager army sent his emissary to the other with a note, “give up now or you will all die tomorrow. We are 15,000 and you haven’t a chance.”
The General told the visiting emissary to watch while he ordered a soldier near him to run off a cliff nearby, and he immediately obeyed the order (to his death). The general again ordered another soldier, Fall on your sword, which he obeyed again killing himself.. The General turned around to the emissary and said, Tell your commander I have 3,000 such men. The emissary immediately left and ran back to his commander.
The next morning the General and his 3,000 men woke up to find the opposing army packed up and gone ……

I also think its a bad idea, and I’ll add this: can you imagine if a mole starts some trouble inside that march?

The 2A group will get the blame.

  8. Kent Lawrence May 20, 2013 at 4:39 pm #

And let us not forget the issue of people of a differing opinion being seeded through out the marchers just to instigate an incident. Such an incident will set the 2nd Amendment support movement back immeasureably-if not get it exterminated altogether. We have to be smart about this!

That’s why I’m not as behind this as I might be. The very real possibility of a provocateur or just plain old psychopath making a real mess of things.
But this does raise a question I’ve had for some time: When DO we go nuclear? At what point do we just say, “enough of this shit.” It has to start somewhere. doesn’t it? If anyone thinks that as deep as the corruption runs in our government tat we will simply vote out the bad eggs and reform things that way… Well, I just must be in the wrong universe. They’ve got a century long jump on us. In that time they have drugged/ dumbed down a LOT of us, and disarmed many others.

Look into Kokesh a bit. He’s a Code Pink supporter. This guy is no Libertarian, he’s an anarchist. And an attention whore. “Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

  10. Adam May 20, 2013 at 5:52 pm #

Sounds like you’re scared to me. Good to know others aren’t cowards like yourself.

    • Brandon May 20, 2013 at 6:08 pm #

Adam you have no idea who you’re talking to.

    • dgdimick May 20, 2013 at 6:44 pm #

Adam, your meds aren’t working any longer, please stop by the VA for a new prescription.

      • Adam May 21, 2013 at 5:03 pm #

Keep trying to discourage others from doing what you want to do but are too much of a pussy to do.

  11. ScottSgtUSMC May 20, 2013 at 6:13 pm #

Who is scared? And of what?

  12. greg parke May 20, 2013 at 7:12 pm #

kokesh never intended to go through with it.he is a fraud.why do you think he got himself arrested just a few days after he announced his plans for this march?so he will be tied up in court when the march is supposed to take place.

  13. Rock May 20, 2013 at 9:40 pm #

You all should see what HossUSMC had to say about it on his YouTube channel. They are pretty short clips so it won’t take long at all.
