Michael Moore and the Intellectually Dishonest

Following today’s NRA Press Conference, filmmaker Michael Moore made what is quite possibly the most ridiculous statement I’ve heard all week via his Twitter account (and that’s saying something folks). Here’s the genius in his own words:

Michael Moore Repeal 2A

Repeal the Second Amendment. One has to wonder if Mr. Moore even believes the things he says…since I’ve heard this absurd argument before, let’s assume that he actually does think it’s a good idea. If the Second Amendment only applies to muskets, then guess what Mr. Moore? Your First Amendment rights, you know, the rights that allow you to be a lying hypocrite, only apply to printing presses. No more films, no more social media, no more TV appearances, etc.

You see how that works?

Not to mention your glaring contradiction on prohibition. Prohibition, as we all know, made alcohol illegal. Repealing the Second Amendment, would make guns illegal. You just said it didn’t work with prohibition…I’m really trying to curb the sarcasm here, but I feel like I need to draw this out in Crayola.

If you’re for more gun control in America, let me give you a tip: find someone more intelligent than this windbag to champion your ideas (I hear Piers Morgan is so much better). He’s hurting your cause.

Funny how his bodyguard was just arrested for carrying a gun into an airport.

I find Mr Moore hear a lot like Joe Baden. What he means to say and what he says are two different things quite often. However what you pointed out is absolutely correct that neither point makes any sense.

I wanted to say something intelligent and relevant to Mr. Moore’s beliefs and history, but instead I think it’s time we all band together and be as banal and whiny as possible. That’s what they’re doing and they’re winning. So I’ll start:

look at him- he’s fat and his hat is stupid. He must be retarded.

I think he is finally telling his true thoughts

Some Constitutional scholars suggest that Article II can’t be repealed without the rest of the Bill of Rights going with it, since it was all passed as a single document.

I’m not an expert in such things, but it’s an interesting thought and might be useful when arguing with people like Moore.
