Minnesota Democrats Move to Confiscate Firearms

Not to be outdone by their Missouri comrades, the Democrats in Minnesota have introduced their own gun confiscation bill, HF 241 (Minnesota was actually first I believe).

HF 241 was authored by Representatives Alice Hausman, Frank Hornstein, Erik Simonson, Jim Davnie, Linda Slocum, Rena Moran, Raymond Dehn, JoAnn Ward, and Phyllis Kahn. Among other things, HF 241 states the following:

Sec. 7. PERSONS POSSESSING ASSAULT WEAPONS ON EFFECTIVE DATE

Any person who, on February 1, 2013, legally owns or is in possession of an assault weapon has until September 1, 2013, to do any of the following without being subject to
prosecution under Minnesota Statutes, section 624.7133:

(1) remove the weapon from the state;

(2) surrender the weapon to a law enforcement agency for destruction;

(3) render the weapon permanently inoperable; or

(4) if eligible, register the weapon as provided in Minnesota Statutes, section 624.7133, subdivision 5.

EFFECTIVE DATE. This section is effective the day following final enactment.

Let me guess…no one’s coming for your guns, right?

You can read the rest of the bill here. Unlike Missouri, my understanding of Minnesota politics is that this one has a very real chance of being passed in one form or another. You can keep up with the status of the bill here. In the past few weeks they have only added authors to the bill, which is not a good sign.

Contact your Representative today and tell them to vote NO on any gun control legislation, particularly HF 241.

    When Obama said he’s not coming for your guns he meant it. The plan seems to be a progressive, state by state grab. Our forces are not reacting quickly enough.

      Him personally? Well than yeah, he meant it. But he’s still coming for our guns.

    First “he” got bin Laden…now “he’s” coming for gun owning Americans…don’t underestimate the marxist-in-chief people….State by State or County by County they are setting little ‘time-bombs’ for us…now they want to start indoctrinating kids at an even earlier age with the big preschool push

    Minnesota was the first?

    New York passed a much more draconian bill, that also included these measures, weeks ago.

    Both Democrats AND Republicans in the state Senate and Assembly voted in support of the measure.

    I think we’ve got ya beat, Minnesota.

    Rep. Cornish – R posted on FB today that he believes the ban and mag cap legislation will not pass this year, or even be voted on by the State Senate. https://www.facebook.com/tony.cornish.12/posts/10200636733262166
