New York Moves to Tighten Gun Control Laws

New York State Senator Ruben Diaz has sponsored S1422-2013, a bill that “Increases the penalty for the possession, use, or sale of assault weapons and large capacity ammunition feeding devices and certain other weapons and redefines ‘assault weapon’.”

Read the full text here, and take special notice of the section that redefines what would classify as an “assault weapon”.

If you live in New York, heads up. My advice is to spread the word and contact your state Senator immediately to express your concern over this bill.

We’re screwed! I’ll make my usual phone calls but with the shenanigans the GOP had to do to remain the majority (4 Dems are caucusing with them to maintain a majority of 1), I’m not hopeful.

Honestly, and I profusely apologize New Yorkians, Chicagonians, and Los Angelesonians, we need cities like yours to take these hits, so as time passes, it can be proven empirically that tighter gun control laws DO NOT have the intended affect. I thank you for your sacrifice. (Now, get the heck out of there…)
