Welcome Free Gun Search

Today I’d like to welcome Free Gun Search as our newest advertising partner on Monderno.

As the name suggests, Free Gun Search (FGS) is an online gun search engine that helps fill the void left by Google when they decided to remove firearms from their shopping search results. It used to be really easy to search for a gun using the Google search engine, hit the shopping results link, and see who had the best price. That’s not possible anymore.

Enter Free Gun Search. Using FGS, you can see what’s available and for what price around the web, and it also has a map-based FFL search feature so that you can find gun shops in your area. If you sell guns, you can add your inventory to FGS for free as well.

The website is just getting started, and while it’s already a useful tool, you can expect it to grow a lot in the coming weeks and months.

It looks OK but it is not showing anything near where I live even when I type in my location and I know there are 5 gun shops within 10 miles of my place

Yeah they don’t have every single gun shop’s inventory added to their search engine yet.

Excellent idea and a good “poke-in-the-eye” at the Google/Ebay/etc.types who would appear to be more inclined to sell illegal drugs rather than legal firearms on their websites.

The site appears to still have a bug or two as couldn’t seem to apply more than one filter at a time (selecting “Ruger” and then “.22” caliber took me to a page with no selections, but I have no doubt that will get ironed-out quickly. Can’t wait until more retailers (and advertisers) jump on board!

Thanks for the feedback Mark, I’ll pass it along.

Well the inventory that they do have added is nice, thanks for the tip. I’ll make sure to use FGS in the future.

That’s a great service, but when I searched by my zip code, I’m seeing a bunch of home addresses for people with FFLs, not necessarily gun stores. I guess you can call those people and ask them what they have?

    • Brandon April 9, 2013 at 12:26 pm #

Yeah, it’s an FFL search, so it’s going to show you the FFLs in the area of the entered zip code.

The gun shop search worked fine for me When I did a couple different searches for guns, the links came back OK, but every single piece was OUT OF STOCK. Hyatt Guns was the primary culprit here. Especially in the current inventory climate, having a gun finder that returns only out of stock items, is doubly frustrating and useless.

Great concept, but until they can filter their searches so they only show items in stock, it’s completely useless.

Thanks Ken. I should have probably noted in my post that the next feature FGS is releasing is an “in stock only” filter.
