Florida Murder-Suicide: Get Ready for the Gun Control Rhetoric

A horrific tragedy struck Bell, Florida today: police say a grandfather, Don C. Spirit, shot and killed his daughter and her six children before committing suicide when cops arrived on the scene.

No word yet on what type of gun was used, but in “never let a crisis go to waste” form, expect the Democrats to use this tragedy as a reason to push for more gun control. When (not if) they do, remind them of this:

In 2001, Spirit pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after he fatally shot his 8-year-old son in the head in a hunting accident, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Spirit, who also was convicted in 1998 for felony possession of marijuana, was sentenced to three years in prison for the shooting, the Sentinel added.

In other words, Spirit was already breaking the law, as he had done previously, by being in possession of a firearm.

Sort of makes one wonder about the previous “hunting accident” that took his son’s life. I would suggest reopening that case.

This guy only received 3 years for that shooting so the shooting of the kid must have seemed like an “Accident” at the time
I bet the DA or the jury on that case is wondering WTF right now?
Both cases are a sad tragedy and too bad Mr Spirit didn’t remove himself from the world around 1997

Why don’t these IDIOT lawmakers realize that LAWBREAKERS DON’T OBEY LAWS! That’s WHY they’re called CRIMINALS!
I wonder what the gun grabbers will do if it comes out he was a Christian zealot & killed them all because of some “sin”. Will they go after religion? Will they put limits on “services attended” per week? Perhaps on how much “religion” can be talked about in a given day? After all, NOTHING has caused more death now and historically than religion.
What if it was “Union” related? Suppose he lost his benefits because of them. Will they go after the “Union”? Going after guns to legislate safety is rediculus. Just like here in Ct. Where the ( hopefully EX) governor did just that, blamed an object or “tool” for the lack of Mental Healthcare. Healthcare that would have likely prevented BOTH Fla. and Sandy Hook.

They know that criminals (by definition) don’t obey laws. The laws are there for control, not to “save the children”.

To answer your question about religion, yes, they absolutely are coming for it. You watch.
