I own a Kelty MAP 3500, and it’s a really nice pack. I would classify the MAP 3500 as a bit bigger than a day pack at 38L (2300 cu. in.), sometimes called a “three day assault pack” by manufacturers (MAP stands for multi-day assault pack if I remember correctly).

I’ve never spent three days assaulting anything, so I can’t speak to that application, but what I can tell you is that if you pack the MAP 3500 carefully, most people can easily use this size of pack for an overnight trip, and for some of you lightweight backpackers, this size would be plenty for a weekend trip. I use mine primarily as a hunting pack.

If you’re looking for a pack this size, check out the MAP 3500 sale over at Shellback Tactical – it’s a really well made pack that has worked well for me for the past couple years. At the time of writing it was on sale for $90, which is the best price I’ve seen to date on the MAP 3500.

Select a color – right now it’s showing 34 in coyote and 35 in black in stock. They won’t last long though.

They are gone. Not on the Kelty site at all. Their site says sold exclusively through Amron International, which has it at $149.

Nice looking pack. It’s very similar to my favorite, the Jansport Odyssey that is 39L instead of the Kelty’s 35, but it has a lot of the same features, including hydration pocket. I have three of them and it’s my go-to pack for up to 5 days. I never use any other luggage any more. The Jansport is $100 list, but it doesn’t come in coyote brown. I might have to get the Kelty just for comparison purposes. http://www.jansport.com/shop/en/jansport-us/odyssey-t14g
