NSSF Drops Reed Exhibitions

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) announced today that is was dropping Reed Exhibitions, the company responsible for management of the SHOT Show. If you don’t remember, Reed Exhibitions decided to ban AR-15s following the Sandy Hook shooting in a flurry of political correctness cowardice. Good on the NSSF for doing the right thing and not doing business with a company like this.

To the companies that are in or work with the firearms industry, pay attention: if you want to pander to the gun grabbers, go right ahead, but there will be repercussions. Consider Reed Exhibitions, Cheaper than Dirt, Dick’s Sporting Goods, et al before you let CNN and the White House make decisions about how your company is run.

I can’t wait for SHOT Show 2014.

NSSF Statement

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry, today announced that it has reached an agreement with Reed Exhibitions to terminate the agreement the parties had for the management of the SHOT Show®. Accordingly, effective immediately, Reed Exhibitions will no longer be manager and producer of the SHOT Show.

Reed Exhibitions provided excellent service to NSSF and the customers of the SHOT Show for more than three decades, however, the company’s decision to restrict the sale of certain types of firearms this year at its consumer hunting and fishing show — an event unrelated to NSSF and the SHOT Show — was in conflict with NSSF’s mission to serve the shooting sports industry. As a result, both organizations decided it was in the best interest of the SHOT Show to end their relationship.

NSSF is actively engaged in the process of identifying a new show management company to manage and produce the SHOT Show beginning with the 2014 SHOT Show.

The SHOT Show — the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show — is owned and sponsored by NSSF. It is the largest and most comprehensive trade show for all professionals involved with the shooting sports, hunting and law enforcement industries. The 2014 SHOT Show will be held Jan. 14-17 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Unreal. Where will gun grabbing liberals show up next? They of all people should understand this is a consumer commodities show and that “assault weapon” is a socio-political construct of the crony-capitalistic, big government left.

And the icing on the cake to the NSSF action is that the NSSF is based in none other than Newtown, CT. I visited their offices when I lived there many years ago.

Once again, we Americans, are allowed to vote with our wallets, and decided who we want to give our money to. Good job NSSF!

When the government interferes with capitalism, free enterprise private business, and the United States Constitution, it’s time for the bear to awaken from its hibernation and swat down the opposition.

It still amazes me how the fact that the ar wasn’t used in sandy hook hasn’t been pushed yet! Spsaking with the female shot 3x and survived stated he only had 2 hand guns and no rifle its just amazing.

      John,

The murderer had a rifle – the end.

It’s in the CT State Police report: http://www.ct.gov/despp/cwp/view.asp?Q=517284

And I just returned from the ILEETA Conference in Wheeling, IL, where I spoke with the fourth officer on scene at Sandy Hook. I’ve known him for years, and he saw the rifle as it was bagged and tagged. He also stated that the majority of wounds were .223. He’s an old, crusty street cop who has seen such things before. To me, that means far more than anything the news has/hasn’t reported, or that Alex Jones theorizes.

We all need to get over it – mainly because it’s the truth. And secondarily, because it doesn’t matter. The gun, knife, car or fists that are used to murder are irrelevant, and perpetuating the argument that a rifle wasn’t used suggests that if one was used the antigun proponents would have a valid argument. They don’t. The guns all of us own have nothing to do with the actions of a criminal. Punishing us for the actions of another is unacceptable, and that needs to be the focus.

I remember Dick’s pulling their “Assault Weapons” off the shelves, but what has Cheaper than Dirt done to show their cowardice after Sandy Hook? I don’t really check out online firearms retailers.

Hi Frank. Don’t always believe what is read I agree drop it but looking into a victims eyes a talk with them its a different story. She is a friend of ours and is afraid to come forward for fear. Bit whatever its done and over with. So we move on.

If you know something the rest of us don’t, then I stand corrected. But the person I know who was on scene saw the rifle first hand and has no reason to lie about it. It’s possible that they are both telling the truth.

Morning ! At this point it’s mute! The coward killed himself we’ll never know the truth we all have to band together and keep an united front. Its always the actions of one or a few that destroy it for the masses

As ghastly as the Newtown incident was, it doesn’t merit banning anything. These laws only torture people who haven’t done anything and just want to enjoy their hobby. or defend their families. If the politicians want to do something that actually will work, add 20 yrs to the sentence for any crime where a gun was possessed. and no parole until after 20 yrs. Everybody would support it, it’sd constitutional and it’s enforceable. As it is nowthe liberals are using emotions rather than brains to stampede bad laws through congress. Despicable.
