Seattle Gun Buy Back, Like a Boss

And now for a story that will warm your heart.

King 5 News in Seattle is reporting that last weekend’s gun buy back program didn’t quite go as expected. It was your typical gun buy back program, and was funded by donations from Amazon of $30,000, the Seattle Police Foundation of $25,000, and local businesses totaling more than $118,000. Handguns, rifles and shotguns were worth a $100 gift card, and guns classified as “assault weapons” were worth $200.

What they didn’t count on is some good ol’ American capitalism.

Setup a block away from the gun buy back, regular folks were displaying signs saying that they would pay cash for firearms. This, my friends, is America.

The fun starts at about the 3:30 mark.

If it is like some of these other buy-backs, the police end up paying for the clunker firearms that needed to be scrapped anyway, while the business-minded folks skim the cream off the top.

Probably what needs to happen is for local gun shops and investors in every city and town go ahead and initiate their own buy-back programs AHEAD of the police. Even with paying $100 for all the clunkers that would be brought in, the 10% or so of the good, serviceable firearms would more than guarantee them a return on their cash outlay. Then when the police do set up shop, the investors can get their money back even on the clunkers.

Now, what people would buy a gun then decide they don’t want them in their homes?

Brandon, whenever you are ready to open this type of business I will be ready to buy back too.

Seth, those type of people are called sheep. They think that if they don’t have protection, then no one will break in and try to steal them. They bury their heads in the sand and believe what the authority figure tells them–that they will be protected by the magical police officer.

I think its a shame that the media is trying to make gun owners feel guilty about owning a gun. Will the media feel guilty if that person that sold their gun and got hurt by bad guys because they where attacked and could not defends themselves? I doubt it, being a victim is better than being saved by a gun. Society if so screwed right now…..

I’m glad to be from Washington. Would have been there with cash in hand too if I would have had the extra to spend.
