At SHOT Show Media Day this year, I was talking with my buddy Paul Carlson about Nissan stepping up to sponsor the Press Room, and how refreshing it was to see a big company not normally associated with the firearms industry step up in an active role of sponsorship.
Here’s what Paul had to say:
So in this time where many companies seem to live in fear of an association with firearms and the firearms industry I am thrilled to see Nissan having the courage to step forward and take an active role in both SHOT Show and the firearms world in general. Nissan builds rugged trucks and they fit in perfectly with what hunters and shooters do and where hunters and shooters go. It really is a good match.
As a result of Nissan’s decision to sponsor the SHOT Show press room I have made the professional decision to make sure to take some time out from guns on media day and get behind the wheel of a Nissan truck to put it through its paces. You can bet I will be telling you all about it, so stay tuned.
Good work Nissan!
Nice, a buddy of mine has a Titan that I drive occasionally and it really is a nice truck.
I drive the X (Xterra) It is a very good daily driver as well as a good off road machine. I am glad they are stepping up and supporting the firearms industry
I’m glad to see this as well. I will not drive a vehicle without a manual transmission, and looking at factory options it came down to Frontier vs. Tacoma. The Frontier felt beefier and had a pretty decent edge in horsepower so that is the direction I went. Very happy with the decision, and the truck is very capable off road getting to remote hunting spots. Nissan, if you are listening please drop a manual transmission in the upcoming Cummins powered Titan!
Well, I haven’t driven a Nissan (ne. Datsun) in a long time, but I see that this progressive, forward looking company is calling me back, so I will be looking at their vehicles in the near future when I replace the ‘old truck’ that has just about worn out. Glad to see Nissan not running scared of the ‘anti-gun’ crowd. I like courage in a company.
and yet, there’s this: http://www.digest.com/Big_Story.php
I’ve got a 06 Frontier as a daily driver. I love the thing. It’s a tank. When I was looking it was a toss up between it and the Tacoma but to be honest visibility out of the Tacoma was noticeably worse due to the higher belt line. And I got a WAY better deal on the Frontier. Thousands less than an equivalently optioned Tacoma. Can’t beat the quality and value. Only downside is the Tacoma has amazing aftermarket support, the Nissan, not so much.
