Diamondback Cancels Mark Kelly’s Purchase

Remember when former astronaut and full-time hypocrite Mark Kelly of Gabby-Giffords-spouse-fame made the news for purchasing an AR-15? Well guess what…

Diamondback Police Supply, the gun shop in Tuscon, AZ who sold Kelly the rifle, has cancelled his order. Douglas MacKinlay, the Owner and President of Diamondback Police Supply, made the following statement on the company’s Facebook page:

While I support and respect Mark Kelly’s 2nd Amendment rights to purchase, possess, and use firearms in a safe and responsible manner, his recent statements to the media made it clear that his intent in purchasing the Sig Sauer M400 5.56mm rifle from us was for reasons other then for his personal use. In light of this fact, I determined that it was in my company’s best interest to terminate this transaction prior to his returning to my store to complete the Federal From 4473 and NICS background check required of Mr. Kelly before he could take possession this firearm. A full refund was sent to Mr. Kelly, via express mail, on Thursday of last week.

The Sig Sauer rifle will be donated to the Arizona Tactical Officers Association where it will be raffled off to generate funds the association can use to purchase much needed tactical equipment for the organization’s members. The A.T.O. A. represents the SWAT and Special Response officers of the state’s law enforcement community who regularly place their lives on the line to protect the residents of this state.

Additionally, Diamondback Police Supply will make a $1295.00 contribution (the selling price of the M400 rifle) to the Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program that teaches children, in pre-K through 3rd grade, four important steps to take if they find a gun. The emphasis of the program is on child safety, something that is important to all of us and at the core of the current debate on gun control.

Good guys – 1, hypocrite fame chasers – 0.

Please join me in liking Diamondback Police Supply on Facebook and thanking them for their stance on the Second Amendment.

First of all .. big props to Diamondback!!! Second .. for Mr.Giffords to do this and then to claim it was to prove how “easy it is to buy an assault rifle” is so hypocritical it is down right insulting!! especially because it is not an assault rifle…

    • Hillbilly Bob March 26, 2013 at 8:03 am #

Plus he still had to go through the background check, which is the way the system is set up
Kelly is not a criminal so the system worked as designed, I think Kelly was buying it for himself being the elitist hypocrite that he is and to cover his elitist bullshit when he was caught he threw his story of “showing how the system is messed up” out there to cover his hypocritical tracks
Besides after seeing the recent video of Mark Kelly’s pitbull killing that sealion I think he should worry about controlling vicious things surrounding himself instead of trying to control law abiding citizens lives

When a dog is as vicious as this against another animal it needs to be put down.

I heard that if a gun is used that the FFL has to hold the gun for so many days to run the serial# to make sure it isn’t stolen but if the gun is new it can be taken that day after the background check????
If true I still don’t know why the FFL wouldn’t run the serial # before someone wants to purchase the gun?

          • Lion Heart March 26, 2013 at 4:29 pm #

…umm, because the serial number would show that it was sent from the factory to the dealer who was going to sell it, probably…?

          • Hillbilly Bob March 26, 2013 at 6:18 pm #

            Lion Heart???
If the gun is used and is on a stolen list they would check against that, my question is if this is true why do they have to hold it when a guy walks in and buys it?
I had one Arizona member of a site tell me that new guns walk the same day after BG check but used guns stay a few days

          • Capitalist Pig March 27, 2013 at 2:36 pm #

A Tucson pawnshop and secondhand dealer ordinance requires a 20 day hold on used firearms. The hold gives Police time to determine if the gun was stolen, as well as giving the rightful owner a chance to report the theft.

The dog was just doing what a dog will do if allowed. It was the owners responsablity to keep the dog under control.

I’d rather not let this spin-off in to a Bull Dog debate, however, the dog needed to be on a leash, not allowed to run free, if it attacks other animals. – Bull Dogs are known for this – One more example of these two clowns, being “smarter” then everyone else, and having to tell us “poor bible holding, gun owning kicks” what’s best for us.

Why isn’t the DOJ going after this ass clown for a Straw Purchase?

      • Doug Lauzon March 26, 2013 at 1:59 pm #

Nice. F’n asshole. That “pet” was well trained and Kelly was in complete control, wasn’t he. Maybe he should focus on the killing machine of a pet he has rather than the defensive weapons I have. My AR would have done pretty well defending me from his killing machine, I think. What if that was a kid instead of a seal?

    Awesome. Proud of you guys.

  3. Peyton 111th March 26, 2013 at 7:47 am #

I still believe he wanted that rifle for personal use. Why else go through all the trouble of a mandatory waiting period for a used gun and not get a brand new one out the door. He got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Plan and simple.

  4. a76marine March 26, 2013 at 7:50 am #

It’s long been illegal to purchase firearms that you don’t intend to use personally. Big ups to Diamondback for cancelling this straw purchase.

Next step is to let us know how we can enter the raffle. 🙂

    • dgdimick March 26, 2013 at 10:52 am #

AZ doesn’t have a waiting period, cash and carry, after you pass the Background check. Maybe the ass clown can’t pass the check?

  5. Theshot March 26, 2013 at 7:57 am #

Falsifying answers a 4473 in a criminal act,, should of let him complete the form and notified authorities promptly….

  6. Christopher Jennings March 26, 2013 at 9:34 am #

Good for them in preventing more hypocritical grandstanding.

  7. Randall Garrison March 26, 2013 at 9:47 am #

They did the right thing concerning his purchase! They also made the anti gun crowd look as foolish as they actually are ! I applaud their decision in this case! They are a company that still has common sense for that I thank you!

  8. tim March 26, 2013 at 10:31 am #

Good for you Diamondback. I believe you did the right thing here. And what a great donation to the Eddie Eagle Gunsafe program.Triple stars

  9. Mike March 26, 2013 at 10:57 am #

    excellent move

  10. Mark Nyffeler March 26, 2013 at 11:22 am #

The money that Diamondback is donating to the Eddie Eagle program will do more good than anything this tool, Kelly would do.

  11. G I JOE March 26, 2013 at 12:20 pm #

It don`t matter what reason he was buying it. everybody crying about 2nd amendment, sounds like he lost his. take a test to have a gun, you have to take a test to drive. remember this amendment dates back to when the world was flat and we stoned witches.I have no problem with people with guns, just no ak47 ar15 and so on. join the army if you feel the need to carry one to boost your ego

    • Brandon March 26, 2013 at 12:25 pm #

Not real bright are you? It does, in fact, matter why he was buying the gun. The ATF is ever so particular about such things, you see.

He didn’t lose his Second Amendment right. First off, the 2A doesn’t grant rights, it protects them. Second, he still has the right to own a firearm. Diamonback just decided they weren’t interested in selling him a gun. That’s perfectly legal.

The rest of your ignorance doesn’t deserve a response.

    • Hillbilly Bob March 26, 2013 at 12:31 pm #

G.I. Joe Bloomberg? oh crap, it’s BIDEN
Good Lord America is full of Pelosi disciples

GI Joe, I have a question, just what does a crook look like?
Please give us a good description so we can all be on the look out for a crook

    • cory b March 26, 2013 at 8:45 pm #

Your a idiot gi joe rights are universal they dont tell you that you have freedom of speech but cant use the word damn or a few other choice words when the bill of rights was made they had no intention of stipulating you only have these rights unless you offend someone all peolpe like you need to move to china they take all your rights then you wont have anyfhing to complain about right

      • Roger Woodruff March 26, 2013 at 9:23 pm #

Some folks should have at take a test, have a background check and get a permit before posting or speaking. After all, if the second can be subject to fees, licenses, and permits ect, why not the first. When the Second is gone, so will the rest.

  12. Cosmo March 26, 2013 at 1:42 pm #

Uh, I don’t think they thought the world was flat and they were stoning witches when the 2nd adm. was written G.I.Joe. You might want to check your history book and get back to us. or, you might want to stay off the adult conversations and find a liberal site.

  13. G I JOE March 26, 2013 at 2:52 pm #

Brandon, you would not be mad if they would not sell you a gun. say you look like a crook. Hillbilly bob. nuff said lol, Jake not a liberal. dems and rep are all crooks and take care of themselves, and don`t give a sh7t about you and me. And cosmo your right.it was an exaggeration. do ya think they were thinking of people having AK47`s and RPG`s. PS stoning witches is still in some states law books.

    • Brandon March 26, 2013 at 2:54 pm #

Being mad isn’t the issue, you said he “lost” his Second Amendment right. He did not lose it.

  14. G I JOE March 26, 2013 at 3:04 pm #

is that not a form of it they used his 1st right amendment against him right

    • Brandon March 26, 2013 at 3:14 pm #

Huh? A form of what? Perhaps you should read the First Amendment and then get back to me.

  15. Roger Woodruff March 26, 2013 at 5:09 pm #

Mr. Kelly openly stated the gun was for someone else. If the gun shop would have sold the weapon to him knowing that he planed to pass it along, the gun shop would have been culpable in falsifying the paperwork. Good for Diamondback.
