Yesterday on Michigan Radio, which is part of the NPR network, political commentator Jack Lessenberry commented the Cinco de Mayo parade shooting in Detroit. In typical liberal fashion, Lessenberry departed the land of common sense, and descended into the realm of absurdity:
We automatically assume we can’t do anything, that the Second Amendment fanatics and the gun lobby will stymie any gun control efforts, no matter how reasonable…when it comes to gun violence, we are like medieval peasants were about the plague. We accept there is nothing we can do about it except pray.
Mr. Lessenberry is comparing gun violence to the bubonic plague, which killed an estimated 75-200 million people in the mid-14th century alone. This is a typical liberal tactic and thought pattern – arguments based on ignorance that prey on emotion.
In response to Mr. Lessenberry’s comments, Michigan resident and MDFI instructor Trek said the following, shared here with his permission:
I generally like NPR as it is the closest thing we have to the BBC as far as ‘News.’
Just pulled into the bunker after a rainy sight-in session to hear Jack Lessenberry attribute gun rights to the bubonic plague. (that needs to be purged from society) all because a criminal shot a person in Detroit at the Cinco De Mayo parade.
What part of freedom escapes these asshats?
Nothing in the history of the world backs up the, “If we ban them, everything becomes hunky-dory!” brainwashed, emotionally driven, ignorant stance on guns.
Maybe Jack should look out the window and see the citizenry of Detroit stacking bodies of bad guys while bastions of [fools] like Chicago (See: Gun Free Cities) are still the gun-crime capitols of these once-free United States of America.
If you want to be a drooling crotchmuffin who would trade freedom for peace, there are a metric buttload of ‘countries’ around the globe that will welcome you as long as you be a good little drone.
Just a quick note before you don your beret and aviator sunglasses to jaunt off to a happy little banana republic dictatorship somewhere: There are mass-graves all over this unhappy earth filled with the bodies of those who waited for help.
Dig your own graves if you wish.
Don’t demand we stand in it with you.
Well said Trek.
well said…EXCEPT you aren’t trading freedom for peace, you’re trading freedom for victimhood. The though that if you give up freedom you will have peace is wishful thinking. You want the ultimate form of “freedom for peace”…go to prison! How much peace is there?
Notice only one shot fired at one person and none others hit. In a place where the chief of police says to get armed versus a shooting in any place where gun control is actively being perverted, I.e. NY, CA, MA, CT ETC., many rounds get off and many are hit in most cases. So now explain to me how being raped of the right to protect my life against a threat to it, by a person intent to kill, is going to make my family, myself, or any other citizen for that matter any safer?
p.s. All shots aren’t going to hit, that’s why these “mass shootings” involve a multiple-gun toting psychotropic patient. So why limit the law abiding citizen to 5-7 rounds to retort? I wonder whether the real criminals are those “trying to take guns off the streets”.
Jason- absolutely. Their idea is to trade freedom for peace, we know better. Thanks for responding. – Trek
I recently listened to Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk pod cast from the NRA convention where he interviewed Ruger’s CEO, Mike Fifer about a time when NPR took an interview that he had done for NRA’s Cam & Co. and then used their questions and his answers to fabricate an interview that did not happen. I think NPR is a little too left leaning for me to base all my opinions on.
Well said Trek – Lessenberry needs to pull his head out of his ass.
The asshole politicians will NEVER stop, and as such, neither will their brainwashed puppets. Stay vigilant my friends.
