Jay Leno Caves to Anti-Gun Pressure

Comedian and former host of The Tonight Show Jay Leno was scheduled to perform at SHOT Show 2015 in Las Vegas, sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). Anti-gun groups like the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence were predictably outraged, and proceeded to pressure Leno to cancel his performance. Within 24 hours of a petition going live, he gave in.

In response to Leno’s cancelation, the NSSF release the following statement.

NSSF Statement

We are clearly disappointed by Jay Leno’s decision not to perform at the  2015 SHOT Show State of the Industry Dinner. He unilaterally cancelled his promised appearance due to pressure from the anti-gun lobby, which included false statements about our industry and its commitment to genuine firearms safety, which we attempted to personally correct with him, but to no avail.

We are not deterred by their publicity seeking nor are we unfamiliar with the bullying political tactics of the gun control groups that seem to have as little respect for the First Amendment as they continually demonstrate with regard to the Second Amendment.

We are proud of the many programs that we run that meaningfully contribute to public safety including our long standing Project ChildSafe and Don’t Lie for the Other Guy initiatives in addition to our members everyday work in compliance with comprehensive federal and state laws.  We will not allow the lawful commerce in firearms nor our industry to be demonized and we will continue to speak out for the Second Amendment rights of the millions of law-abiding citizens who are our customers.

Despite Mr. Leno’s cancellation, we look forward to having our biggest and best State of the Industry Dinner to date with a performer that respects the contributions of our industry and the customers it supports.

While I obviously don’t agree with Leno cancelling his appearance, it’s hard to not like the guy for what he does for America’s veterans, like when he gave Cpl. Ethan Leberge a 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat (allegedly the most powerful muscle car ever). It just goes to show you how powerful the anti-gun/Hollywood/media/politician conglomerate is.

The retards at TTAG are calling for the revocation of Leno’s man card over this and that he might as well be “the enemy” because he didn’t tell MDA to kick rocks. Because yknow….all those people know what it’s like to be in the public eye and have a group of idiots like MDA try to tear them down on a personal level. And people wonder why they don’t get the traffic they used to.

      TTAG is a joke.

And they wonder why their forums died off.

Agreed, Leno seems like a good man, but he’s a people-pleaser. He’s not anti-gun (in fact he’s probably pro-gun), but he definitely doesn’t want to deal with the anti-gun crowd the same way that Nugent does, for example.
